Legit NBA dunkers ducking Mac?

Mac has done some spectacular dunks over the past three dunk contests, but the competition he faced were not good dunkers, outside of Castle making couple impressive dunks.

Sooo these so called top in game dunkers like Edwards, Zion, Ja, etc. are scared of losing to a guy who can't get a full NBA contract? Is that what it is? If you want to be considered one of the greatest NBA dunkers ever, you gotta get to the dunk contest. Mac got Dr. J's approval and he probably hasn't seen him play an actual basketball game

They even started the event by remembering how dope was the year 2000 slam dunk contest, with star names, pretty much saying we want this type of competition back again.

they don't have to be scared of losing to McClung. They WOULD lose to McClung.

Why?

They're not great creative dunkers. They catch bodies, which is amazing and honestly what the public prefers, but it doesn't translate to the contest.

One thing I will say about Mac after watching the car jump. He has a little more free reign to take a risk like that since he doesn't have a legit NBA career to throw away.

Prime Zion, or if just decides to be serious for a couple months, would be blockbuster at the Dunk Contest. Actually might be just what he needs to get his career jump started again

I think they're more scared because it's not worth it.

If LeBron said "I'm competing in the dunk contest. Come get me yung nikkas", every All-NBA caliber baller would sign up just to beat him. If you lose to LeBron...it's kind of like losing to MJ, Vince, Nique etc. There's no real shame in it.

Now McClung? What's the upside to Ja or Ant beating him. If they win, it's whatever. If they lose....."y'all elite nikkas lawst tew a white boi."

The modern players take their cues from LBJ. If he didn't think the risk was worth it, none of these younger guys will either. Personally I'd like to see them compete, but it's not MY money/career/health on the line. If the old school guys were getting the checks these guys get....

Facts. These guys are phenomenal athletes and would definitely be able to look good dunking if they cared. This like saying MJ, Nique, Kemp etc were just body catchers and in game dunkers
