I think it was a tweet from someone in the industry so take what I said with a grain of salt, But it’s believable to me. It’s not like mass appeal has a roster full of well known artists. Nas is probably the biggest artist on the label and I doubt he’s selling/streaming at the same level he was even 10 years ago.

Always been incredibly hard for labels to turn a profit, now more than ever unless you part the international conglomerates.

Really looking forward to Slick Rick and De La. De La has never had a wack album in their lives. Glad I got to see them live about 25 years ago. One of the best shows I ever saw

Nas and Premo about 20 years too late tho. Nas is still Nas but I haven’t heard a Premo beat that had me :gladbron:since I was still in my 20s

I liked Prhyme 2 and I really fukked with this beat he did for Joey

I hope that the emphasis for every last project was on making good music with good production cause for all involved this has been a point of discussion. Ghost has been on a run of bad beats/lazy concepts and phoning in performances. Rae has kept his ear for beats somewhat. I am most excited for the Slick Rick project and the Nas/Preme one but I am afraid that the beats will be the same pastiche paint by numbers Premo crap we've been forced to praise for the last two decades. A Nas/Conductor,Nas/V Don or a Nas/ALC would be more interesting to me.

I heard at best Nas is breaking even on this mass appeal shyt. Dude really just loves hip hop.
This is the shyt I thought Eminem would do. He's always bigging up LL, Redman, G Rap, Treach etc. and talking about his love for pure hiphop. Then he releases pop records chasing hits. The man's gotta be worth hundreds of millions, why not just put out passion projects like Nas is doing for the love of the sport. Maybe he doesn't really love it as much as he says :mjpls:

Treach said the only way he will release a new album will be on Shady. I wonder if Em ever heard that.
