LeGBT are hitting low blows now: "Can you imagine if Lebron said he needed to retire like Jordan because he was mentally fatigued?"

How long ago do you think Michael Jordan played? ESPN and internet blogs, chatrooms and websites existed then :mjtf:

And a big story dropping on Sports Illustrated or a tabloid hit harder than a tweet ever has

You sound like your 16 years old that think the internet came out when the iphone came out or something :mindblown:

That era had informed opinions and stories from real journalists not some teeny boppers on X.

People out here getting basketball takes from Shannon Sharpe :why:

This is the era of saying things you don't really believe because being extreme goes viral and leads to a payday.

Outlier cause he actually physically assaulted a person. Which even then if that happened today would be even bigger news

Embiid put his hands on a reporter and it was national news and talked about on shows for a week.. that entire saga itself was talked about for 3 weeks every day on about 50 different channels/vidoes/newsources

Come on man. Get smarter
You think the embiid story was bigger than the barkley one? I dont even remember the embiid one already, yet I remember barkley story 25 years later

“Legendary toughness” in an era with no haters, no social media, no 24/7 surveillance of your every move. :russ:

A couple of days of putting their games under the microscope had them in hell.

Neither MJ nor Tupac legacies hold up to modern day standards. That’s why their stans always complaining about “disrespect”. :mjlol:
The problem is, there is a specific age bracket of humans/athletes who had complete lives in both eras

(I was born early 80s so I lived 20+ years of no social media and 20 years with it)

Which will never happen again

So…people like Kobe, JayZ, Tom Brady, Denzel, Serena W, etc etc thrived and dominated without any type of social media or debate shows and also complete mental toughness and tore eveyeone a new a$$hole without crying about it completely in the social media era, and actually better because they (we) can turn our phones off and see it as a toy we don’t gaf about rather than our entire existence

So yes I do believe Mj would not gaf about social media breh what’s so hard to believe about that

It wasn’t bigger because he didn’t actually physically throw a reporter through a window. He basically aggressively put his hands on him with his finger or finger or hand or whatever

Im saying physical contact with someone by an NBA player made national news and was everyone online and Twitter and it wasn’t even as bad as what Charles did

He was labeled that anyway.....
you see the difference in what messages & labels get pushed then versus now

now the negative shyte gets amplified a million times over & impacts franchise decisions player decisions

in mj's era they were way more willing to put the negatives to the side to give the talent a chance to maximize

back then more people were likely to tell you mind your business if you talk about players off the court habits

now trades are being called for because folks don't like a players personality

motherfukkers disrespect all time greats on the basis of media narratives

this is a hypercritical time in media like i say time after time it's the motherfukking hater era HA

It's more than social media though. Back in the day athletes used to get drunk and high during games and everyone knew and no one cared, Then it became taboo.

Jordan transcended the game, Doesn't matter what era he played in. Sure "purist" would "hate" but "purist" don't driive the business.

purist care about hoops they'd be the one defending the athletes

the casual fans opinion is determined by the nature of the narratives pushed & the propaganda

the louder the hate became the farther down this shyte laced road we go HA
