dog...maybe their kids just didn't want to play basketball... Look at Magic Johnson son...

Well that's what I'm saying, there are so many other factors to look at. Saying his kids won't be as good as him because we haven't seen any NBA greats bested by their children is a poor argument. Saying his kids won't be as good as him because almost no one in history has been as good as him is a better argument. Children of average NBA players won't be better than LeBron either.

We are dealing with microscopic sample sizes here. Lavar's dumb ass is basically saying Iman Shumpert has a better chance of fathering an NBA superstar than LeBron, simply because his observation is that superstars come from marginal players but not from stars.

There are a handful of true stars. Thousands of NBA journeymen. Billions of people worldwide. It's simple math. But if you compare NBA stars to the general population, there is a much greater probability of NBA success.

Michael Jordan married a model and had kids that were smaller and nowhere near as gifted athletically. The pressure of living up to a successful father wasn't the problem. They still made it further in basketball than most but that was with only half of his DNA, if it was even his DNA at all :troll:

All this talk about keeping another man's kids' name out your mouth makes no sense when Lavar Ball was specifically responding to a point made by Chris Broussard. And for as much as Lavar Ball runs his mouth, he was absolutely right, and clearly didn't mean any disrespect with his comments (these ones at least).

Nothing he said was out of line. Matter of fact what said is 100% factual.

No doubt if Lebron`s kids plan on going to the NBA the expectations are gonna be at an all time high.

Jeff and Marcus Jordan wasn't under pressure like that to follow their dad even when they did ball. There were some jokes when they didn't become NBA players but they were largely allowed to be them.

You are clearly more qualified to speak on this subject than he is.:yeshrug:

But that doesn't change the fact that he is giving an outside perspective on something he's never been through.

He's been on record saying he wants as much pressure on his kids as there can possibly be cause that will show how great they are.

Your friend had that similar level of pressure on him and look how that turned out:francis:
again. this pressure that he's talking about for the sons of mega stars is INSANE. and NON STOP.

this is why kids of superstar parents in any walk of life a lot of times dont even use their parents last names when they try to get on. they try to hide it. so they can make it for themselves but also so they wont have that pressure of "you pretty good but you aint as good as your daddy or ya mama was." who wants to hear that nonsense every time you mis a freethrow or someone crosses you up. "Lebron would've never got crossed up like that, young James aint his father." aint nobody trying to hear that all the time. that gets sickening. and makes people want to throw hands for real or just quit. If they can get thru that pressure and they still love the game. They could become great. it is possible. but HIGHLY unlikely since they are missing that father son training component.

Notice how money mayweather became better than his pops. his pops was good. his uncle was solid too i heard. but they made a monster out of that young mayweather.

Williams sisters pops wasnt a great tennis player. shoot, was he even top 1000? probably not. yet he trained his daughters to be monsters.

Tiger woods pops wasnt some great golfer. but he turned tiger into a monster.

So here's the combination that yall need to check for until someone makes a new mold out of a new combo:
It's when Athleticism, Size, Meets, Personal Desire, and the Head strong Training of a Parent that loves the sport and knows it inside out - your parent's greatness(the less great your parent(s) are, the better shot you have of succeeding)

- Joe Jackson wasnt some musical genius. yet he made the jacksons and brought us MJacks

I can keep going. Beyonce's pops was into the business. but he trained her up to be The Queen of it all.

Notice. non of these people's parent's are no where near superstar status. But their kids end up being super greats.

Lavar was right

They were allowed to be them because form day one they kept saying they were not their father. and they were doing their own thing and they like basketball. but their's no guarantee they will love it like their father. this was put out their EARLY ON. why? to taper down that ridiculous pressure of becoming their father.

I hope Lakers don't draft dude
We've got enough shyt to sort out don't need that to add to it
you're an idiot if you dont take ball if you're the lakers. you better. if he's available. his pops talks. but what is he really saying thats harming anyone? Nothing. talking about who he can beat means zero. he's and old man like he said. talking about beating other old dudes. thats all jokes. and has zero to do with his son. him talking about his son is better than X current player means what? nothing. his son hasnt said it. so its just a father hyping his own son up which he should whether that be loud or quietly.

does lavar ball have the skills to end up better than The Chef? YES. But Thats like asking did bron have better tools to be better than kobe? YES.
curry isnt athletic really. 99.9% of what you see is superior SKILL and a God given Aim. if you're an intelligent player. Skill can be learned IF... again IF you want to put in the time.
curry aint a short guard but he isnt 6'6 either. lonzo is.
curry isnt really athletic and the ankles are horrible. but as of now lonzo is a lot more athletic and to my knowledge doesn't have an injury history like curry(knock on wood)
Curry is a darn good passer but curry is a scorer that can pass well. not the other way around. Lonzo is a passer that can score. This could end up as a wash. But it could also help to make any team he ends up on better. even better than curry going from one team to the next with his crazy shooting ability and good passing.
Curry doesn't really play defense(he has quick hands but thats about it). lonzo plays very good defense (at the college level). if lonzo can bring that same d to the nba. he's going to be a better defender than curry mostly off the fact that he has the athletic ability/size/length to pull it off.

So is he better than curry today? NO. can he be tomorrow? he has a legit shot to be as good as him if all things workout. assuming he loves the game like it seems he does. but we'll see. Dont hate on the kids cause pops is loving his kids that he helped turn into monsters.

They hated tiger like this, they hated the williams sisters too just like this. dont be the guy that hates on possible greatness because you dont like a dad who truly believes in his kids and his own training.
