Where is the proof that SAS has financially helped the game?
This is extreme brehNBA was getting that tv deal regardless of how the NBA is covered becsuse nba is one of the few things on TV that will generate close to a million or more views everytime it’s broadcasted
The networks such as the one this c00n is employed by PAY to have access to the NBA product not the other way around.… and there's a reason for that.… SAS c00n ass ain't helping shyt.…get off the drugs nikka![]()
Disagree 100% and I'd argue the declining ratings at ESPN (in general) and for NBA games across multiple channels prove this hasn't been good for either side. You could say it keeps the lights on for sports media during the NFL offseason. And yet that hasn't stopped pretty regular mass layoffs at ESPN yearly. But when it comes to NBA basketball, the current media environment has actively harmed the game by doing exactly what SAS is doing right now. Denigrating players, disrespecting players, displaying a general disdain for the game, and fostering a mentality that basketball does not matter until the NBA Finals. People can blame racism all they want but you cannot allow a product's OWN MEDIA to say "this product is bad" 24/7 and not expect fans to come to the same conclusion.NBA players financially benefit from people like SAS adding the reality TV dynamic to the league coverage. Especially this generation of players that lack the overall charisma of players 20-30 years ago. SAS and others have helped fill that void. Can't have it both ways.

You add all this together while having a weak, effete commissioner who does not defend his brand like other commissioners do and you get this situation. ESPN/TNT/etc have been on Bron hatred for a long time and it hasn't generated interest in the game or increased media ratings. People are tired of that shyt and because no players were given space to become must-watch superstars everything is in the tank. Look at what they did to Giannis and Luka, two very likable players. They use the same playbook to denigrate guys and then wonder why nobody cares lol.
SAS and his genre of gossipy commentary has definitely helped the game maintain interest in light of the decline in charismatic players and more boring three point shooting playing style.
SAS and his gossipy commentary has destroyed any semblance of rational sports discussion over the last 20 years.
The way the nba is covered boost social media engagement, not viewership of actual games. The way the NBA is covered in the media plays a role in boosting the views, especially among casuals.
