I legit can't even remember '96 Magic, I remember him coming back but his ass barely played that year. '92 All-Star Game Magic is the last game of his I can distinctly remember watching.
When we're talking about ranking his passing, we're talking about his prime years in the 1980s. And in the halfcourt he completed 75% of his passes by being taller than his defender and lobbing it to another player who was taller than his defender. Watch a game tape or even a highlight tape and that's what you'll see in the halfcourt over and over. Even in critical moments, he would often default to the most basic-ass, telegraphed passes.
Take the '84 Celtics series where he got the "Tragic Johnson" nickname. Explain to me...what is he doing on the opening play of the video? If he's three levels above Bron as a passer, then why is he telegraphing so obviously that he fails to get even the most basic pass off before time expires?
What happened in Game 4 was even worse. WHY is he telegraphing this basic-ass pass so far ahead of time, leading to a turnover? Why not use a better setup to give Worthy a little bit of separation and ensure Parish doesn't see the pass coming so easily?
Time running out in Game 7....what is he doing here? Where is he going with the ball? He leaves his feet with the plan to....?
It's not just that he turned the ball over at three critical junctures. It's the way that you can see the turnovers coming from a mile away. He didn't just misfire a pass or make a miscommunication with the recipient, the entire process stunk. He's not even trying to make the highest-value pass in that situation.
Also, the vast majority of his halfcourt passes were from a standing position and his fast break passes are usually running straight ahead in an open court. He didn't have the same degree of versatility to make jump passes, passes off of spins, etc. off the drive in the halfcourt offense that Bron does.
Nikka its saturday Mid May Go outside and touch some Grass im currently doing yardwork and barbecuing posting on the coli while I cool off a bit.
You don't remember 96 Magic but want to dissect his Prime in the 80's I stopped reading right there
He did all that he did while fukkin everything that moved in 80's LA we lucky he even alive.
And my point still stands.
HIV+ Magic still had a better Passing and fakes bag than Prime Bron. Or any version of him. no need to shytt on Bron and Break down his whole career in essay form. all I would need to do since you brought out tragic Johnson is
