I can't believe there are people that actually doubt LeBron would be Calvin Johnson on steroids if played football. We've seen countless basketball rejects go into the NFL and become dominant players (i.e. Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Jimmy Graham, etc.). LeBron is 10x the athlete and basketball player. He's 6'8" 260 lbs., runs faster than any player in the NBA, and jumps higher. He's like a better version of Calvin Johnson. He taller, stronger, jumps higher, and just as fast. It would be unfair to even allow him to play that sport.

He could walk into an NFL locker room tomorrow and be the GOAT WR. Easy.

He's too mentally fragile to be dominant in the NFL....the nature of football is non conducive to somebody with his demeanor.

no superstar calls, or people being scared to defend him cause they don't want to end up on a poster or laughed at.

DB's would :eat: at the sight of him coming across the middle with his below average speed

This is why I hate ESPN sometimes. THey get bored and start talking about "what ifs". I was at a restaurant having dinner earlier today and as i waited for our table i saw ESPN having a entire 5-10 minute segment about how good Lebron would be had he played in the NFL. They even had :comeon: in the piece giving his opinion.

this again
http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id...examines-lebron-james-possibility-success-nfl

So, the case for James as a tight end has a few holes. I think there's a possibility that he could become a receiver and instantly become a star in the vein of Jimmy Graham, and he could be a terrifying weapon as a move tight end taking 15 snaps a game on obvious passing downs, but there's also a very decent chance that he would struggle to stay healthy or be too raw to dominate on a consistent basis. There is a position, though, where I think James could step in immediately and become a star: pass rusher.

In many ways, suiting up as a 4-3 defensive end7 would let many more of James's strengths play up. Instead of relying on his good-but-not-great downfield speed as a tight end,8 James would be able to employ his first step and agility to get past opposing offensive linemen, in much the same way that he creates space when he drives the lane. His enormous strides would allow him to get around blockers and beat them to the proverbial spot, which would create easy paths to quarterbacks. Teams would have no hope chipping him with all but the sturdiest of running backs. If LeBron doesn't get to the passer, that huge frame and 84-inch wingspan9 would knock down all kinds of passes at the line of scrimmage. And as a 4-3 defensive end, he wouldn't need to know anywhere near as much of the playbook as he would as a tight end. He could step in and attack quarterbacks from day one.

shut the fukk up.

His leaping ability alone would unprecedented and he would eat in the redzone

I'm more inclined with him being a dominate tight end than wr, he doesn't have the fastest first step so he could be jammed at the line, but there hasn't been a db created that could compete with him for jump balls if he had good hands.

that guy was just trying to be contrary. LeBron is a natural TE.

i mean he gave reasons it could work. he gave reasons it might not

he said a great position for lebron would be DE because he'd be taking advantage of his natural gifts in the short time if he switched

it's the NFL, nobody is gonna run out of the way, just so they don't get crossed up or dunked on.

but as we all know, being relatively fast for your size in your sport and being able to jump high= good at football.

is that there have been LeBron type/sized athletes in the NFL for awhile now. Julius Peppers,Manny Lawson,DeMarcus Ware,Dion Jordan etc.....nobody is talking about how they could be the GOATS at their positions "if they wanted to be"....so why even make that assumption with LeBron?

only dude in the NBA right now, who for sure could play in the NFL, is Nate Robinson.

I'm sure if he stuck with it in HS and played it in college he'd be eating in the NFL. That said, he could not switch over and dominate tomorrow.

EDIT :childplease: @ LeBron not being fast.

He was an all-state receiver, it's not exactly like we're talking about someone that had zero football background.
