James sustained a groin injury when Los Angeles Lakers took on Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day and has since been sidelined with the problem.

The small forward has been listed as 'day-to-day' by the Lakers, meaning he could return at any point.

But a stunning report from OnSmash.com claim James is suffering from a 'sports hernia injury' which could keep him ruled out for at least another month.

The Lakers have struggled in the three-time NBA champion's absence, winning just two of their last seven matches.

And things are not going to get better as James could be in pain for the remainder of the season which would seriously hamper any playoff hopes.

"We’ve been told through sources that LeBron allegedly has a sports hernia injury – more severe than an injured groin," the report read.

"This is likely to sideline him for longer than a month and possibly more, since he’s not going to get surgery treatment.

"While Los Angeles is declining to undergo the knife this season, our guess is that he’ll be out until after All-Star break.

Resting a sports hernia heals up, but he can’t continuously play at an elite level without feeling pain.

"Since the King will not be going under the knife for the first time ever in his career, this injury will linger the rest of 2019."

A James-less Lakers pulled together to beat Dallas Mavericks 107-97 last night.

And head coach Luke Walton was delighted the young players finally took responsibility for their actions on court.

It’s why I put so much responsibility on them, because that’s what I believe they’re capable of doing," he said.

"I thought [Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball's] competitive spirit and the way they, on both ends, just fought and competed tonight is what we need to bring to the table every night.

"When they do, they’re really, really good at basketball.”
