Leaving A Job, 2 Weeks Notice And Vacation Days…How Do Y’all Do It?

Had a convo with somebody regarding their situation…

- you got a new job
- gave your two weeks
- you’re informed you would only be paid out your vacay days
- you still have almost a month of sick/personal days

Do you schedule vacay for your last week in the office or Do you plan time off before you start your new gig on your own dime?

What's the difference between personal days and vacation days?

I wouldn't call in sick, but assuming personal days is accumulated hours I would look to use them before leaving.

yeah at mine there is no difference it's all PTO time sick/vacation

i think OP just wants to not show up the last 2 weeks, honestly i have people who show up for their last 2 weeks and put in no effort, might as well just ghost.

No science to it. Give your company good lead time you're leaving. I would just pocket the vacation time pay.

My old company you had to work your full two weeks if you gave proper notice in order to be paid for unused leave. If you left before then, they wouldn’t pay out any banked leave.

I planned ahead since I knew I was leaving months beforehand and used all my sick time and most of my leave before putting in my two weeks notice.

I didn't trust my old job the last time this happened so I switched to part time worked two jobs and just used all my leave up then left.
