No, he noticed but did not care. Little kids make too much noise not to be notoced. Maybe he thought the little girl is annoying, and wanted to get rid of her. He probably thought he could say he forgot. Also when he got out the car the little one probably made noises at him or cried for him to come take her. I don't believe that he forgot.
