The PS6 will likely cost what the PS5 did at launch. Sony has a negative history launching a console at $599 so no way is the mainstream product released at that price.
Inflation has fukked that up. 599 is more than likely dog. It is what it is.
You gotta think that in 3 years when the 6 drops, you are asking for the PS5 Pro to drop to at least 499? It's been 3 years and the base PS3 with a drive is still 499. No way the pro is gonna drop to even 499 if the 6 drops at 599. That makes no logical sense.
A $700 mainstream console will be DOA at launch. I think by the time the PS6 launch happens the price of a PS5 Pro will be under what a PS5 cost now.
If they want to see their console install base numbers shrink they can launch a $600-$700 next generation console and price lots of customers out of the market.
599 is probably it but what do you do with the pro then?
They’ll have to come down on the price of the Pro. Their margins are shrinking and their cost are increasing. They can’t shrink their install base putting out overly expensive hardware. The Pro can cost that because it’s not the main product but I question if the PS6 can launch at $600 and even come close to PS5 total sales.
