I'm just waiting to see which shoe company is going to bite on signing them , a major or a local looking to come up. There's a lot of smaller shoe companies out in Southern California.

Brand Black? (Jamal Crawford 's kicks ):jbhmm:

I think Brandblack would be a great company to partner with, but not with the delusions of grandeur Lavar has.
If Adidas could sign away Crawford, then BB isn't in the ballpark of compensation that Lavar is looking for.

I have a bunch of Brandblack shoes, I think they make quality product. But they need to find one of those second tier players, like Harrison Barnes or CJ McCollum, and offer them a stake in the company.
shyt is hard, I mean Russell Westbrook doesn't have his own shoe. (those lifestyle joints don't count)
If he doesn't have his own sig next year, it'll never happen.

Man hell no. Are you broke?

I swear it's only 9-5 working internet black power slacktivists talking about they would be investing millions to combat structural oppression by investing into Big Baller Brand :russ:

Breh. First of all, if you make millions investing, you don't make stupid investments, because you're not a stupid person. So since you're not a stupid person, before you inject your hard earned family money into an "investment", you gonna look at those profit and loss statements and see if you will earn your money back. Becaese it's umm...an investment.

Next, your mindset is the reason OUR community's doesn't have wealth. Poor people mindset - you just want to throw around the word investment to sound smart and financially savvy, but let me break it down for you from someone that knows exactly what he's talking about. It's these "investments" that cause a lot of us, especially athletes to grow back.

True, generational wealth is built through putting your money into things that can lock in for your kids, and their kids. It's the three generation rule. Things like high level life insurance that you can earn interest on and things like that. Putting money into hawking products is not what wealthy people do, but a lot of us think that's what they do so when you ask someone "what would you do when you get rich" people say "invest", without any clue of what that means.

You would be an idiot to take money out of your daughters mouth and give it to Lavar Ball to push "Big Baller Brand" because you think his ugly t shirts are going to shut down Nike or create some new mindset (mind you black athletes been doing this for years, clothing lines and kicks) but there are black tech people and scientists that have legit Biz that y'all not mentioning.

Let's take someone from our community. Nas is one of the smartest investors around. Yes Nas the rapper. Does he have a clothing line? Nah. Real money don't put money into dumb shyt like that. He invested into Bevel, apps, and a lot of dope tech, a lot black owned.

It don't matter who you are, you can't carry an athletic brand alone. Name one person that couldve.

Lebron? You do realize the "King" logo, 500 million in advertising budget for commercials and print media, overseas camps and China tours, and massive shoe distribution deals ( oh yea that LBJ don't gotta pay for) is the reason he is so wealthy now, and such a big name. Marketing ain't just about what you can do in your sport, and ownership isn't always about having your name on an LLC. That's just feel good crap. Lebron's lifetime deal will outway anything BBB could ever do, str8 cash, and LB is building dope ass businesses in Ohio and Florida.

Hell, even Floyd Mayweather got offices and building here in DC, no lie.
These dudes making bank, some raggedy clothing line ain't changing nobodies game.

And before you respond Mr. Investor, post a picture of the $50s you invested into buying a BIg Baller T shirt - they have been available online for awhile :usure:

Because these dudes are 19-year-old basketball players, not entrepreneurs trying to run a business from scratch:mjlol:

You really think when you can sign a $20 mil guaranteed contract like Ben Simmons just did with Nike, that any kid is gonna be like nah fukk that, lemme go start my own company, and while I'm trying to make it in the NBA as a rookie I'll also have to worry about how to promote my company, hire factory workers and other staff, shoe design, development, customer acquisition, marketing, inventory, how to scale it, how to find investors, etc.

Now you could say, well of course he won't do it himself, he'll hire someone else. But WHO? How does a 19-year-old know who to hire to put in charge of a company that is supposedly going to compete with Nike?

Some of ya'll really don't THINK for shyt before you hit that submit button :gucci:

Yep and the money will come out of your pocket

Lebron and Jordan don't have to worry about that.

man the second he gets a real designer I'm copping some 3B off GP

this. he needs some people who know how to design to hook his shyt up instead of buying one of those automatic sewing machine and typing "BBB" with a basic as font and hitting "print"

As many talented designers and shyt in LA, you'd think he'd find someone to hook up some graphic tees at least

Coli nikkas have no vision whatsoever :mjlol:

So Kanye can make $4 shoes, charge $250 for them and have everybody waiting for 12 hours to buy them but, you think NBA superstars don't have the same potential to do that? This is Indie vs. Music Label for sports or how actors start their own production studio. If LeBron was coming into the league right now, maybe he'd take the first shoe deal but, the second? He'd ask himself why not create his own shoes.

Most entrepreneurs don't pass up multi-million dollar checks to instead chase their "dream." They make it based on survival and need because they have no other choice.

Not as complicated? What, do you think you just magically wake up one day with factory full of shoes, you take a pair and start wearing them, then sit back and count the money? :mjlol:

You sound close minded.

It's no different than actors distributing movies through their own production studio. Why do that when they can just keep starring in movies with a big studio and stay cashing checks? Yet they do it.

No different than musicians distributing music through their own label/imprint. Why do that when they can just stay signed with a major label and stay cashing checks? Yet they do it.

No different than entertainers getting involved in investing and business (Dr. Dre, Jessica Alba, Nas, Kobe, Ashton Kutcher) when they can just stick to their real jobs and what they know and stay cashing checks. Yet they do it.

In 20 years, I can definitely see superstar players distributing their own apparel themselves.

Do you know how many frivolous and shortsighted investments rich white people make just to spite others and jockey for market positioning?

Fukk outta here. It's not about the money. the money is just a tool. A visual representation of the social capital you've amassed. It's about working to leverage power. If you were really working with some doe, you'd know that.

You sound broke, and powerless. :camby:
