RIP....he was the man. I always felt like he looks so much like my grandpa who also passed back in December. Johny's death has me thinking bout my grandpa and all the Christmases where his music was always a must.

I watched a lot of the funeral coverage... Growing up, I was always aware of how big he was in the Dominican Republic, and as he got older, I would wonder what it would be like when he passed. The funeral started at like 10 in the morning, and it was well past sundown when they finally put his casket in the tomb. I always appreciated the energy that he would have when he performed, and I think that is part of the reason that it was so surreal for me to see him in the casket; someone who was so energetic and full of life now lying still and lifeless in a casket. It broke my heart when his widow gave him a kiss after the funeral and his son was singing his songs along with the band.

I have access to the Dominican channels on my FireStick, and when my wife told me the news I immediately went to the news station. It almost seemed like a president had died, with wall to wall coverage. That Saturday of the funeral I watched it whenever I happened to be sitting in front of the TV.
