668k in cash, in safety deposit boxes is weird and fishy:patrice:

No investment accounts? That money wouldve been in the millons if invested
Very weird. Why does an estate with a will need $40K in fees to release funds to the children? He was old but he wasn’t money under the mattress old.

Maybe he cashed out hidden money just before his death because he knew the end was near .

I guess I realized once I got in my mid 30s, that ppl never really have the liquid worth you might think. And plus you still gotta live 30-60 more years after you turn 35. So he probably had a pretty comfortable lifestyle but not "Ballin Ballin". Once I retire I'm on track to be a couple million up, but I'm gonna be old and who knows what might pop up or everything could take a turn for the worse and that will be drained really quick. But if everything remains as planned I'll still have enough to leave both of my daughters roughly around the same amount as "World Famous Carl " Apollo Creed" Weathers left his 2 sons. But at least his affairs were in order.

Me and my wife about to get our estate planning done

Word of advice....do a trust not a will
Yep! I created my trust last year, best $5k I ever spent. I’m too playa to die and have my family setting up a gofundme or wondering “what would Motife want?”
It’s all laid out in my documents.

I had to administer my dad’s estate after he passed unexpectedly. It wasn’t extremely difficult because he was organized, my siblings were in agreement on what to do and I was able to gain access to all his accounts, passwords etc.

But being thrown into someone’s personal affairs without much preparation is a bytch, that’s on top of grieving (which I really haven’t done), managing family, lawyers, money, etc

SPEND THE MONEY AND GET ESTATE PLANNING DONE. For anyone in the Atlanta area, I have a BLACK attorney I can refer you to for a consultation. She did a great job setting up my trust and making some changes for other assets I acquired this year

To take it a step further. Do an irrevocable trust so the money stays in your bloodline.

Yes. Because of the field I’m in, we work with a lot of attorneys.

this infographic should help. it's a little more detailed than this, but you protect your assets from creditors with your trust. Plus if the trust's assets are $13.6 mil or less you avoid estate taxes. IANAL but those are some of the benefits.
