It was a little much Abby talking but I thought the interaction between her and Joel were done better than in the game. I'm still firmly in the camp that Joel fukking up in the game and saying his name wasn't a character assasination like so many people argued when the game came out. But that doesn't mean it couldn't have been done in a better way and I thought the TV show did exactly that.

The thing that lacked was Ellie's POV during this whole thing. If the show was going to do it like this, we did not need the final shot of her from Ep.1 be a bait and switch with Ellie looking mad at Joel and not talking to him. You take that scene away (and do it like the game) and when she talks with Jesse about patrolling with Joel you still figure out there's a scene or moment you are missing.

That "so you telling me they are on better terms :ohhh:" hits less hard on the show and you don't get to see Ellie fight hard as fukk to get to Joel and find him in the storm, so even though her having to watch him get killed is still tragic as fukk, it doesn't reach the level the game got, imo.

Episode was fukking flames though, I'm legit nitpicking trying to write my thoughts on the whole thing. The way they build up tension is fukking masterful and the added stuff with Jackson getting overrun works in the context of the TV show. As "unrealistic" as that fight was, it was still more believable than Abby and Joel going Rambo on infected. shyt, the worst part of ep. was them going 1 for 1 with Abby escaping the horde of infected, not sure they needed to make hundreds of fukkers going at her, a couple dozen would've been ok :heh:

The last thing he thought about was probably

“im dead, Jackson’s gone, and ellie is dead”
Yup :mjcry:

Him watching Ellie as the last thing he saw probably sent him as happy as The Last Of Us world could make someone like Joel feel when they die :dead:

Them changing it to Dina shouting Joel’s name instead of Joel giving all the info to outsiders shows that as much as they tried to gaslight fans that took issue with it, they changed that shyt because they knew they fukked up by doing that originally. No reason to change it now after being indignant over the criticism and I called it that they would change it.

Pedro didn’t capture the boss up moment of Joel. He told her to shut up and get it over with but it didn’t hit like Troy did it. He didn’t have that sneer but it was good enough though. No reason to nitpick. We’ve already seen that the show won’t have a better performance than the game scenes so accept it, and try to appreciate if it’s just good or not instead of “better than”.

It was a really good episode. Little rushed, should’ve been a longer ep. Still can’t see Abby in ole girl. Requires too much imagination. Just not physically imposing and that added to the suspense of her character but she did cool though.

Those soundscapes from Quayle’s composition added an extra layer of intensity in the game and I do miss them in the show here, especially in key moments such as that scene. I’m still holding out hope we’ll hear parts of his OST shine through once Ellie begins her Seattle rampage.

Thought this past Sunday’s ep was fantastic though. Mylod is just different with this TV shyt.
