Fizdale will be a better mentor for Kyrie than Brad Stevens. I really think Dave will bring the best out of him and not on no Mudiay shyt.

KD and Kyrie will turn on each other if they play on the same team. Durant built his house on quick sand and Kyrie built his on LeBron’s lawn.

I'm as harsh on Fiz as anyone here, but I'll give him this credit. We won 17 games and the only malcontents were Janis Porzingis and Enes Kanter. I think he'd be able to put the chip on Kyrie and KD's shoulders as a tandem, he's great at this unity tip and his claim to fame is being on that Miami staff with Wade, Lebron and Bosh co-existing. I think he'd be able to handle those two better than a lot of coaches in this league.

The problem is that both of those dudes have already won championships, so it’s not like they are hungry to get coached like that. The chips on their shoulders is deeper than winning IMO and it revolves around LeBron. KD joined the Warriors to beat LeBron and Kyrie left the Cavs to try and prove something to LeBron. They both took measures to surpass him in their own way, but both ultimately failed because their approaches were flawed.

Wrong. :camby:

LeBron joined a super team, KD joined a super team.

KD and Kyrie getting a ring together nullifies Lebron's legacy to where KD can be compared to LeBron and Kyrie can prove to be a top PG.

My thing is my biggest hate for Fiz's system was the lack of it. I wanted more structure for these young cats to learn in. But for two elite scorers like Kyrie and KD, that wide open system and simple action would be a perfect fit. Surpassing Lebron as a shared goal is exactly the type of thing Fiz can get them to work with. I have a feeling Kyrie is gonna have a big bounceback after all the hate he's catching right now, there's a lot more blame to go around and he's catching the brunt of it. That oughtta bring him back with fire on his next contract (plus it'll be his choice for the first time). This is all speculation though admittedly. I'm not mad at your take at all, I can see that perspective as well.

If he can manage that then Fiz would be an NY legend.

My other concern is that the Knicks would basically be putting two shooting guards in their starting line up. A two kings system doesn’t work unless one or both players have natural playmaking ability in their skill set to fill in the gaps between scoring. I could see KD and Kyrie playing out similarly to KD and Westbrook in that regard. The Knicks would need a big three with some playmaking, defensive anchor making the third player IMO.

It's not really about being the GOAT for Kyrie like it is with KD imo, it's about getting out of Lebron's shadow. He can do that and co-exist with Durant. If it happens, it's not like they're being forced to team up. It's because they wanted it and knew what it meant.

I wouldn't really compare Russ and Kyrie either, because of the difference in their operating space. We're comparing a career 30% 3 point shooter with a career 39% (over 40% 4 out of the last 5 seasons). I'd think a closer comparison is to Steph tbh (not exactly but a lot closer than Russ).

Either way though, Russ and KD, you're talking about a team that took the Warriors to game 7 in the Western Conference Finals...If you tell me we can have a tandem that has potential to get that far for the next 4 seasons, sign me up. I'll say it again though, I feel where you're coming from. I have my concerns too (for me it's the injury aspect). But, if I have a chance at Kyrie and KD with Mitch Robinson and a top five pick from this upcoming draft; I'm taking that fam. We'll be able to add a ring chaser or two for depth and if that top five pick is Zion :banderas:
