Thats always gonna be the the disconnect
Defense doesnt matter in todays nba
Knox is a terrible defender but still won rookie of the month
Trier cant play defense for shyt and was awarded a new contract and is one of the surprise players of the season
Harden doesnt defend
Westbrook doesnt defend
Lebron james doesnt even defend

So having a player out there that plays above average defense in a game where we give up 125 points and lose by 15, doesnt mean much. Especily when hes providin pretty much nothing on the other end.

And the reason hes only had 8 starts as the pg is for reasons i already stated.

At least you're honest about not caring about defense :yeshrug: . But the bold is flawed logic though. The argument for Frank is to have a team that gives up 100 instead of 110 while scoring 101 instead of 108. But even if we were losing by 15 points, we've literally lost all but one game by double digits since Mudiay replaced DSJ due to injury. So you just described the exact circumstances we're witnessing with Mudiay starting and painted it as unacceptable...which is why this discussion popped off with me saying "you cats that are gassing Mudiay are either trolling or biased."

Its not about whether i care about defense
Its the new nba
Which is pretty unwatchable but its the reality of the situation
You focus on defense is dated
Which is why i always say frank woulda been better for da league 10 years ago
Franks not making that big of a difference on the defensive end lol we must be watchin 2 different games

Nah, defense is different now but still important. But it's off ball and help defense that has become more important these days. Mitch being able to cover enough space to block three's is one of his biggest attributes right? That speaks to modern defensive value. The same can be said of the famous "Frank against PnR ball handler" stats from last year. You pair the two moving forward and you've got a combination that projects to play effective defense against the most important play in the modern game. And as far as Frank not making a big difference, today he's been pretty bad but I'll repeat that there's a consensus around the entire league that the kid is a good defender.

if the knicks were down 14, and came back to take the lead with frank instead of what just happened with mudiay, there would be mulitple orgasims and "i told you so's" this thread lol
but because of a personal dislike for mudiay, there is crickets lol
The thinking is Mudiay and Jordan aren't part of the future, so anything they do in the present means nothing. ironically, both of these guys are the types you'd have if Durant and Kyrie were here.

why the hell would we have mudiay here if we signed kyrie
mudiay cant do shyt without being ball dominant and you need to put a defensive guard around kyrie to make his job easier so he can focus on scoring
:dahell:
with that said he's playing well today

Theres players in the d league that can come to our team and strictly defend, thats not what we drafted frank to do.

And the reason hes only had 8 starts as the pg is for reasons i already stated.
Harden is number one in steals and deflections and is statistically the best post defender in the league. Westbrook has played the best defense of his career this season. LeBron is in year 16 with 50,000 minutes under his belt he takes plays off but he was a great defender.

With that being said Frank’s defense is overrated because of his foul rate and lack of off-ball disruption. He has great wingspan and technique, but average lateral quickness which I think is the reason he gets called for reaches and handchecks so much.

Frank’s woes are beyond shooting. He has poor burst for a guard, average handle, can’t finish at the rim, and is passive and non-aggressive. He sucks and has gotten plenty of opportunity. He is an unagressive, inefficient, foul prone, turnover prone, overwhelmed player who should have spent time in the G-League this season. He is one of the worst players in basketball. I don’t understand how Knicks fan cling to the very few good games he has and hype up the most basic reads he makes. He is not an NBA level guard at the moment period.

Even that scenario is problematic. If you get Durant and Kyrie, you can't afford to bring back Mudiay or Jordan unless they accept vet's minimum contracts.
