Prince of Darkness
This shyt feeling like a classic Knicks setup

Apparently he's been healthy. And the Knicks told him go have a seat.
Knicks finally won the PR war, clearly the source for Woj and SAS.
Interesting thoughts
Yuck
If you're getting rid of Porzingis, what did Dallas offer you that no other team could've offered you? The only thing this deal did, which no other deal would've done is pair two young stars together without blowing up the other teams cap space. Why would a free agent go to NY instead of Dallas now? And DSJ hasn't shown anything but ability to score sometimes. He's not better than THJR so we got the worst talent in the deal and got picks that will only be bad if KP leaves his more ideal situation. I don't see the positives here.
Long story short, Knicks just confirmed that their plans to be a good team extend out to 2023 and not 2020.
I don't think there's no benefit. I just think the benefits could've been maximized with a different team. But that's obviously just speculation on my partDog...it got rid of Tim and Lee.
It opened up a 2nd max slot.
What other trade for Porzingis gets rid of our 2 most unmovable contracts and frees up space for 2019?
The trade in theory comes down to trading Porzingis for some combo of KD and Kyrie/Kawhi + having our top 5 pick with future picks to come. That's the intention behind it. That's what no other team had the combination of offering. We went from pairing a potential question mark in KP with 1 superstar to being able to sign 2 established superstars.
It's a homerun swing.
You've been one of the most consistent and level-headed Knick brehs in here. How you don't see where there is an actual benefit to this trade is baffling to me. The benefit is a seat at the table come July 1st, no matter how intangible it may be. It created an opportunity we didn't have before.
The Athletic is showing out right now imo.
KD and Kyrie to NYC? Why execs around the NBA think the...

@bravaDo
I respect you trying to talk @JMurder off the ledge.
The thing is, he is worried that if we strike out in summer 2019...we will become the ultimate & permanent laughing stock of the sports world. It'll be an embarrassment big enough for a serious setback in regards to how serious(or not so) free agents & sports analysts take us.
We absolutely need to sign a superstar this year. Everything indicated that 2019-20 was the year the rebuild would start to pay off because of the incoming talent & much more developed youth.
It's disheartening to consider the prospect that we are going to have to be content with another 3-4 years of being the worst team in the league.
Again, I'm much more optimistic now but those are still good reasons to be scared.

My bad, let me say one more thing about KP & our options. In order to have a satisfactory trade, the Knicks would have to satisfy all of these requirements:
In my opinion...The Mavs, w/ Doncic balling & Dirk about to retire, might have been the only team that could possibly satisfy all of these requirements.
- The other team in the trade would be confident enough to think KP will be able to be healthy and produce.
- KP would be willing to make public his intent to sign with that team long term.
- The other team would have to be confident that KP isn't blowing smoke up their ass and dip.
- We had to get something in return that allowed us to be in a lucrative position.
