Overpaid trash ass cac thats taking up a roster spot from someone more deserving, fukk him and anyone that loves him :birdman::hhh:
Taking a spot from who? Him being here helps us towards the lottery again, plus if you wanna talk overpaid there’s two other dudes on the roster fitting that category for their skill set:sas2:

Roster already has more than 15 players on it, and thats not even factoring in our two 2-way contract guys in Hicks and Trier. They already waived Lord Jamar, Jr, TroyWill. Someone else is going to get cut unless they can do a 2 for 1 trade or a salary dump. Hope it aint Dotson :sadcam::francis:

Where do Knicks fans get this arrogance from? You think we’re good enough to be picky about these type of things.

Boo fukking hoo. I don't fukking care. Retiring Carmelo's number is debatable, because he has the stats and individual accolades to back it up, but it's not a slam dunk case like you're making it out to be. He has a better case for getting his numbers at the rafters in Denver, but it might not happen there either; they gave it away to Jokic, a second round draft pick at the time. You speak on both sides of your mouth. Calling the Knicks a top ten and classic franchise and shyt, but the man advancing past the first round of the playoffs once and missing the playoffs is indisputable. :mjlol:
And King has had only two elite seasons and barely played over 200 games in his Knicks career. Stop it 5.

Look at our fukking rafters

Ewing was a bonafide superstar. The rest of the retired group at worst contributed to title contending teams. Melo was neither of them. Blame mostly the Knicks ownership and front office situation for that, but Melo deserves his share of the blame, more than his dumbass stans are willing to admit.

So what if they gave it away to Jokic? OKC gave Kevin Durant's number to P.J. Dozier, an undrafted rookie. Cleveland allowed Collin Sexton to take Kyrie Irving's number. In time Melo forcing his way out will be forgotten and fans will relive his tenure there which was one of the most successful and exciting times in their franchises history. The Knicks are a top 10 franchise and are a classic franchise even though we haven't been blessed with the quality of players other franchises have.

That 54 win season was one of the best teams in Knicks history, like you said he has the stats and individual accolades to be considered for a jersey retirement, he is a first ballot HoF one of the few that have played for the Knicks, he has the Madison Square Garden scoring record with 62 points breaking a record that stood for decades, that Easter Day game against Chicago in '12 was one of the best I've seen as a Knicks fan. Melo led us past the first round in what was a decade long drought for the franchise and this is a guy that actually wanted to be a Knick despite how bad we've been in the 21st century. Saying all he did was advance past the first round and missed the playoffs ignores a great deal of circumstances.

His tenure here was far from perfect but he is one of the very best players to put on the jersey. For obvious reasons he didn't get to contribute to title teams, people keep on bringing Oakley and Starks which is a joke, if Ewing had a player of Melo's caliber we would have won at least one title in the 90's.

knicks dont retire jerseys unless players win rings
ewing an exception
it should be but it wont
same goes for bernard king:yeshrug:
And that's B.S., nobody deserves to wear number 30 again. King is a true HoF player and one of the best scorers that game has seen, an All-NBA player in a era that was stacked at his position, again we haven't had many of those caliber of players, and he's also a native NY'er. I'm not hearing this championship bullshyt, King didn't have the teams for that. The man averaged 35 points per game on 57% throughout the '85 playoffs. The moments he provided are some of the most lauded in the culture and lore of our franchise.

Iconic. It's gonna take death for them to retire OG's number. :snoop:
