I wonder if Kanter will still love Fiz after he starts benching him in the 4th like Hornacek used to do b/c he's such a defensive liability.

I mean, if he was willing to bench his star Gasol in the 4th of a game, I cant imagine he would give a second thought to benching Kanter for being a turnstile on the defensive side of the basketball

On the bright side, him opting in prevents the FO from doing something stupid this summer. Yes, I have faith in the competency of this FO, but........its the Knicks :francis: I'm holding out on wholly believing till the off-season is over :yeshrug:
You right though, we almost made it out of last FA without any dumb moves till these dudes outbidded themselves with that dumb ass hardaway contract.

To be fair, that was all Mills. Perry wasn't hired yet

Which begs the ?, why make a signing like that with no GM :dahell:

And I love Frank's potential, no issue at all with drafting him where we did, but why let Phil conduct the draft if they were planning on firing him :dahell:

Even in a relatively quiet off-season last year, Knicks still managed to be on some fukkery :dead:

I don't mind Fiz encouraging these dudes so they get out there and bust their humps in the summer and he low key is giving them directions too. Mudiay isn't Wade but the way he gets into the lane with his size and strength makes Wade a good film study and player to aspire to when he's attacking the rim (just comparing style here not substance).

Same with Lance, right now any time he dribbles the ball he is doing too damned much and I spend an inordinate amount of time complaining about how bare he leaves the stat sheets. That dude is never gonna be Draymond Green but I'd love for him to work on his handle and passing so that stopping him isn't as easy as chasing him off the three point line.

I think (hope?) it's just encouragement for what direction they should be taking their offseason workouts. When Kanter opts in, he needs to have an off the wall defensive big man for Kanter to wanna be like too. That dude is not gonna see minutes like he'd like if he keeps up the abysmal rim protection for Fiz (high key, I've been looking at the bright side and thinking his big expiring contract could be extremely valuable as other teams chase that free agent market too).

Let's play the game, though...

Under Fizdale, what is Kanter's stat line after 82 games? Seriously?

No KP - 18p, 11r, 1.5 assists

W/ KP - 15p, 12r, 1.8assists

Knick Van Exel as Assistant Coach. :ehh:

Will add link later.

I finally get my wish of adding NVE to the Knicks a whole career change too late. I always wished we had a Kenny Anderson or NVE to add to the Houston/Spree/Camby/LJ core. I know his main job is gonna be to work on Franks handles. shyt, Mudiay too.

Not to be a pessimist, but honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Kanter & Fiz have issues with each other next season.

Big personalities tend to clash, Kanter's the biggest personality on the team and evidently Fiz isn't lacking in personality or ego.

Yeah he'd be an expiring and one of the easier pieces to move if he opted in, just don't want any potential player-coach discord with a vet (albeit a young vet) to take away from what should be the sole focus of next season which is developing the young(er) guys on the roster.

With Toronto firing Dwane Casey and probably adding their name to the Bud sweepstakes, we probably look a lot smarter for locking up Fiz when we did, instead of getting played by Bud as he fields offers from all these other teams.

Det, Mil, Toronto

I think Portland did right by Stotts, but surprised the head coaches in Was and OKC weren't shown the door after underachieving. Bud's got a lot of options and he seems to be patiently waiting out & weighing all possibilities

We did well to get our guy early.
