Just got back from Clyde's Wine and Dine. LJ and Clyde were there chopping it up with the fans which was call. LJ was enthusiastic as hell about RJ too.
My feelings on the pick? RJ made too much sense to pass on. I think with the KD injury and our need for a true number one; RJ and Garland were the only two guys worth taking a shot on at 3. RJ is a much safer choice there than Garland who is very much a mystery. Barrett's college game wasn't my particular style, but he is built for the nba and he has the one attribute that I really think this team needs...this kid's got a dog mentality. He's hungry in a way that these other young cats need to see and will feed off of. I do think there are going to be some frustrations as RJ and Knox develop with big roles...but if those two grow together, they can become a truly dynamic duo on offense. God forbid DSJ takes the next step or Frank's offense clicks, then that trio will be a nightmare.
Now I am a little disappointed. The Knicks are playing safe again which I always appreciate after past rush moves; but with Clarke and Nas there at 21...MAKE A DAMNED MOVE!!! I'm frustrated there. There were some real bargains late in the first, I wish we'd have eaten a bad contract and grabbed one of 'em. It's almost time for our second round pick, Bol Bol was never gonna get that far unfortunately, but Jontay Porter might. I'd like that shot and if not, Shamorie Ponds in a Knicks jersey is nice. Otherwise, Josh Obiesie as a draft and stash maybe. UDFA? Kerwin Roach is someone I'd look at. Idk, this is the crapshoot part of the draft. It's getting to the point where all the guys I was really enthusiastic about are gone, but a few should still be there.
