I'm a big Jake One stan here, but he deserves more credit for being one of the dopest Chameleons ever. Dude just did arguably the best beat on Roc Marci's new album that's super minimal and gritty. Then he comes right around and makes some wavy, smooth luxury shyt like Lifetime Income. And in between he's doing dance music with Tuxedo, epic joints for Dre, Jay, Ross, and Drake, underground bangers with DOOM, De La, Mobb Deep, and G-Unit, and full albums with Freeway or Brother Ali.

Dude can do any fukking style of beat.

I know Jake....I didn't know this was him....gonna have to hit him up.......but yes he can produce any style....the Philly Freeway albums really showcased it IMO....

What do you rank this one out of either 5 or 10? I'm fukking with it, but there's a couple skippers to me also.

i give it a 5.5/10 only the feel so right track stuck with me.

Yeah, he's starting to lean too heavy into the player mode side of his music. It was better when he was mixing it up with that weird esoteric trap larry blend into it. Even if they weren't the strongest tracks, it still broke up his albums and was unique to his artistry. They gave his projects more flavor without detracting any of the soulfulness to them. It drew comparisons to Currensy, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing imo. I still have big confidence in the tonight show album that he announced though.

Sometimes. I think in his case he’s just trying to appeal to larger markets, which unfortunately means that his earlier fans start to get left out.

Larry's my guy, but he has to slow down on the releases.

We're in a time now where dudes feel like they have to drop projects every 15 minutes to stay relevant. The quality suffers. I'm still playing Keep Going, so I was good with Larry for the rest of the year. It kinda feels like he's rushing things out now.
