Nah, his Dad killed himself months after he left the Indiana U. for good. Larry stated the campus was too big for him and he didn't get along with the upperclassmen.

One of the Indiana players he didn’t along with was Kent Benson.

After dropping out of Indiana, he was working as a garbage man. The Indiana State coach convinced him to go there and play basketball again.

Tiny Archibald, a HOF point guard, had missed an entire season due to injury and came back limited the previous year.
This isn't true, you've said this multiple times before and it's not true :skip:

Plus you're ignoring how Bird not being ball-dominant helps the flow of the offense, along with his overall playmaking and passing on/off ball

Tiny Archibald missed the entire 77/78 season with an Achilles injury. That's a verifiable fact.

Everyone with major Achilles injuries ALWAYS comes back more limited the first year back. That's a verifiable fact.

Tiny averaged just 11 and 5 on 45% shooting his first year back, by far the worst of his career. That is a verifiable fact. I'll bet he was trash on defense too.

So what part of what I said wasn't true?

He was back to All-Star caliber in '80, and that's my whole point. They didn't jump from 30 wins to 60 just because of Bird. They jumped to 60 wins because they added Bird, Carr, Maravich, and Henderson, because Tiny was back to All-Star form for the first time in two years, because Robey was back from injury, and because Maxwell, Cowens, and Ford were good players too.

That 1980 squad had 4 Hall of Famers, 3 of them playing at All-Star level, AND a future Finals MVP with a solid supporting cast 9 deep. The previous year they'd only had two of the four, with just one in all star form. That's a big difference.

Maravich and cowens were passed their prime in '80

I mean your acting like they added superstars or something. Bird was still the transformative player
