The Pacers dont have a coach right? Bird and Ewing had a great relationship when they were on the Dream Team. Ewing is in search of a head coaching job. Why not give him a call, Bird?

Remember Bird’s legendary game against the Hawks when he dropped 60?

We’ll allow Doc Rivers to tell the story:

“Bird got in the zone and he started calling the shots, he started saying “off the glass”, that was the one game I think he tortured Dominique.

“He saw Dominique as this up and coming player and he just tortured him, mentally. He tortured all of us, he was calling shots,”off the glass” “who’s next”, “where you want this one from” and he just made one after another. When he got to about the 55th point you knew it was something special.”

“Even as a player, and that usually doesn’t happen, but we were down so much at the time, you got time to realise the game. The last shot, he said “in the trainer’s lap” coming down the court, which meant it was going to be a three and it was going to from deep, and then he said “who wants it?”. Then I think Reggie Brown, I’m not sure who it was, ran out after him, he shot this high rainbow, it goes in, Reggie bumps into him and accidentally knocks him on our trainer’s lap.

“So it was exactly what he said, it was an accident but it was almost fate. They show a shot of our bench, Cliff Livingston and Eddie Johnson are standing up giving each other high fives, it was pretty awesome.

“That night was not awesome. We had to go back to the room, and Mike Fratello, instead of going out to eat, he had a team meeting and put the film in and says “it’s one thing to be in awe, it’s another thing to cheer for the other team”. And he shows this back and forth, and kept rewinding the high five. It was awesome.”

Magic Johnson was injured in one match up with the Celtics, but that didn’t stop Bird going over to have a word:

“I’ve got a pulled hamstring so I’m not playing. He walks down to me and says “man, I’m sorry you’re not playing, but I’ma tell you what, you’re here I’m a put on a show for you, so you just sit back and watch.”

“I’m like “Get out of my face man”. I don’t wanna hear that, that’s Celtics and the Lakers! Every time he hit one he looked at me.”

“Larry Bird told Robert Reid he shoulda stayed in preaching! That was funny, he had 50 points.”

Mark (Aguirre) hit a three pointer on Larry Bird and said ‘take a look at that’. Bird just came right back and hit three three pointers in a row, and said to him “You’re out of your league”.

“He’d say Danny give me the ball, or DJ give me the ball, I got this guy in the torture chamber right here, while the guy was standing right there listening to him say it!”

On February 18, 1985, Bird registered a triple double (30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) and also had 9 steals in three quarters of play against the Utah Jazz. Bird sat out the fourth quarter, as the Celtics led 90–66 after the third quarter and won the game 110–94. When asked by reporters if he actually wanted to play in the 4th quarter to get the quadruple double, Bird said “What for? I already did enough damage to them.”

Shawn Kemp
“Larry taught me a lesson. People criticized Larry… Larry is getting old, his back is in pain… So I go out, I hit a couple of shots on him, I was like man, said a couple of words to him, next thing you know, he is shooting threes in my face, he’s talking to me, he ended up with like 47 points. He taught me a lesson that regardless of who you are, how good you are, you have to bring it every night, you got to get your respect that way.”

The only really great thing is....
there will never be another white skilled person like that in Modern history in sports.
to terrorize black people singularly as a player.
Plus, it will never be another system setup off the excellence of black people.
namely bill russell,...
then used and misappropriated as a weapon.
against all of the black players in a league again either.
Back then, before magic hit the shot , that hook.
It always felt like impending doom for black athletes in professional sports and of course in all of basketball back then.

Larry bird made me better as a kid because the racist cheating white grip the Celtics and the gawden had on America.
made me know I had to be expertly poised as well as highly skilled than everyone to win in this white man's world.
So I prepared like a made man in everything to be that good because watching Larry bird thwart all my black superheros every Saturday or Sunday at 12pm central was proof comic books were fantasy and racism/white supremacy was actually fukk'n really real.
Including and would really limit what and who/why/when/what/where I could do.

Larry bird was greater than darth Vader as a villain and just the goat villain.
That after you get older.
you just come to ultimately respect on some level of seriously providing nuffin but misery and horrible conditions.
That after they are conquered you still have a portion of fear of if they ever arose again.
To stay skill and educated to back it back.
Into the doldrums of hell in which it was vanquished.

Bird was and the Celtics were like the fukk'n empire in star wars but for real tho.

shyt was like beginnings of the pr'd cool uncle tom in the unique magical negro unicorn position as a misappropiated narcissistic focused culture thief group think space.
That people think is cool in there praising of this continued uncle tom culture thief marketing of guys like jay z and puff.
That I feel was swayed in victims of trading supremacy circumstance twice in history.
that the Celtics always worked the league over with.
As well as an over pronounced race based culture thief misappropiation protocol and narcissism of the civil rights era stances of bill Russell. That after that were swayed into an uncle tom based ideal.
for most Celtics players who were black.
till Reggie lewis's death changed this ideal from emotional windfall.
that if it had not of changed would and almost succumbed.
to becoming archaic before bird hurt his back and history's own circumstances changed this entire dynamic.

If not for bird being so grassroots.
That it prevented him from hiring and contracting someone to help on his driveway.

We could have had to deal with a possible resurrgence.
Yet there would have never been another McHale and there would never be another chief and DJ with KC Jones.
to solidify the type of frontcourt meets backcourt pedigree meets skill and execution base available.
to flank bird in the impending low bball IQ era.

Yet and still, the idea it is another bird out there possibly arising is still a small fear. Yet I know for real there are no white people really that good.
As they do not apply themselves in skill in that manner like bird and also do not respect black people enough to be the type of grassroots white guy allowed to misappropiate the black players in indiana attain and misappropriate the skill/soul of the game.
Including, there is no racist system that could capitalize on it in the nba as well. yet the idea of it possibly re-occurring is still there and it speaks volumes of how good a player on all level of skill, pedigree and execution bird was.
Plus the fact bird was that great of a player he could and did partake in the grassroots play and social interaction in Indiana coming up as a kid as well.
Yet gets lost in all Boston racist systematic misappropriated soul of the game and league Boston used from Russell in and after the civil rights era.
Plus all the shyt talk'n he countered and backed up over his career.
In his soul crushing evil force telepathic like grip of the whole black basketball playing universe and American racial climate at the time when I was a kid.
