if your a sampler an average laptop will do the job but when you start using vst such as kontakt ect you will need a good cpu , i would stay away from amd , intel are better fore music . Myself i use a i7 with 8gb of ram and 4 gb graphic card and still not enough sometime when i get toward the end of a project .

i got a asus i7 wit 16 gb of ram and a geforce gt540m 1gb 5 years ago on ebay for 1200 new

look for a ebay seller who sells multiple computers and offers options on expanding the ram to 16gb.

lets put it this way... ive never had a SINGLE piece of slowdown the past 5 years even with like 20 high quality vsts playin at same time on a single project.

Been looking at this one??

First, A bit of misleading info in this thread.

Not all i7s are the same. You have to know which generation, the # of cores and the GHz.
List of Intel Core i7 microprocessors - Wikipedia
So this one would be a late 2016, 2 core, 2.7GHz.
About a generation and a half old, but more than capable. (I'm running a 2011 i7 macbook and got no real issue)

With that said, the pricing looks pretty good compared to similar items on the website. The HP laptops are overpriced.

kinda late but yeah.

Get as much RAM as you can afford. A good large SSD to install your soft-synths on. Synths installed on an SSD are faster and are less likely to make your software crash. And an i7 processor you might let somebody overclock it.
Better ask a computer expert to help you. I have a friend who helps me out whenever i have a problem with my PC

I’ve been wanting to start producing and I’m indecisive on whether or not I should just invest in a Mac, my main concern is does FL Studio work properly on because I’ve heard that it has a lot of bugs due to Apple not having a native version.

Don't get a overpriced Mac. FL is still in Beta for Mac.
