You must be high as shyt, if dude had already been bodied already, LAPD or whoever hunting him would've jumped at the opportunity to announce it. LAPD and surrounding PDs are getting swamped by calls from civilians saying they spotted him, if he was already bodied with their knowledge they would've announced it to end that shyt. You’re acting real basic right now breh. The fact is that if that man dies, he will be thrown into a sort of martyrdom, and if that happens more people will start making serious enquires into his claims, rebelling in memory of him, rallying against the pd in his name, forming support groups in his name e.t.c. Stuff like that will probably happen anyway, but if he dies it will happen ten times more. People tend to idolize extremist figures much more after they die, so if Dorner is reported dead to the public it could spell alot of trouble for the LAPD.

For higher ranking LAPD folk the best case scenario is for this guy to be presumed alive by the public, but they want him dead so he does not cause the local PD trouble, so the solution for them is to have him killed quietly and then report him "missing".

In a age of hd cameras, heat detection, drones, face detection, voice detection and all other types of tech thats out there to prevent this from happening, he has made a fool of all of the law enforcement in the state. His mission could be just to show us how far preparation and intellect can get you even at the extreme disadvantage.
