Let me start with this, I'm clearly not a Mahomes fan, but I'm not a hater. He's the best quarterback of his generation, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and he's proven this over and over again...
I made a thread a few years ago that there would be a challenger as the second best of this era, and I thought it would be Burrow. I think it's becoming increasingly clear that the #2 guy is Lamar, and Lamar is a title away from making it a coin flip with Mahomes...
Compare them in both their primes, Mahomes starting in '18 in his first full year starting, Lamar in '19 in his first full year starting. The huge contrasts are, clearly Mahomes with a 3-0 Super Bowl lead; Mahomes 15-3 in playoffs, 4-2 in the AFC Championship, vs Lamar just 2-4 playoffs, 0-1 in the AFC Championship...
Until Lamar wins a title he'll never equal Mahomes but regular season, he's matching Mahomes step for step:
