The past 5 years we haven't had PG who could play D.
We DESPERATELY needed a consistent outside shooter to take pressure off Kobe, Pau, and Bynum. Nash is on of the greatest shooters in NBA history.
With Mike Brown's offensive ineptitude the Lakers needed a legit PG who could run the offense. Nash (even at his advanced age) is still an elite PG in this league.
All the Lakers need to do now is strengthen their bench (which will be difficult with the cap situation).
Nash trying to get grant hill to play for us.
