This Lakers team isn't built for the long haul, they have to win right away. The only major piece that has youth on his side is Dwight and who knows how he is going to recover from the surgery. Everyone else is clearly on their way down.

This team is definitely built to win right now.
I don't think the learning curve is going to be as steep as some people are assuming. Unlike the situation is Miami and NY the pieces the Lakers have brought together all compliment each other very well.
Once the Kobe era is over the Lakers are gonna have a ton of Cap space and one of the best players in the league....
I know I'm reaching, but by 2014 I could see Melo getting sick of NY and coming to the Lakers to win a championship...

yeah the Lakers gotta win now. I hate to compare this team to those green fags but thats kinda like what we need to do when kg ray and pierce came together and won right away. Kobe and pau already got championship experience...Nash is a wiley vet who should be desperate to win one...would have already made it to the finals...if not for the Lakers. May have won a chip if he hadnt flopped when Rob Horry came at em and STAT got suspended. Dwight already been to the finals...so has Mike Brown... If Lakers dont win this year...its a failure...thats how its always been...its with this high standard that we've won the most championships in Modern Basketball and have been the greatest franchise in all of sports. I cant think of one time ever in the history of Lakerdom...that we lost in the playoffs and people said..."they exceeded expectations"... Losing to Lebron in the finals? Nah...i couldnt possibly walk away from that scenario saying "well at least we made it to the finals...we juss needed one year to gel" fukk that. I think he's prolly gonna average about 18ppg this first season. Kobe will still get most of the shots and he won't be the main focus of the offense. but if he does get over 20ppgs i'll be very impressed.
I think Gasol and Nash might average more, at least Nash will with all them open 3's. Gasol still a mystery to me, I'm hoping Steve just holla at him bro to bro and get his mind right cuz there's no excuses to average less than 18.
