Lakers are in win now mode...If they get Dwight he future is pretty well set (Since the Lakers actually know how to build around a big man).

J-Rich's contract isn't going to be too much of an issue. He'll thrive playing with Nash, and by the final year of his contract Kobe and Pau will be off the books and if they decide to come back their contracts will be half (or less) of their current ones.
Yeah like I said i'm not concerned about J Rich...but we dont need to be S&Ting anyone for Dwight. Dwights stock has decreased after this whole debacle hes put Orlando thru...and Bynums has increased. We don't need to be shipping ebanks off. that dont make any sense. Only people we should be trading is Blake, McRoberts, or Eyenga...not a combo of youngins... Thats pretty much the only players these other teams are interested in anyway.

I'm not celebrating til the press conference. Basketball Reasons.

I like Bynum's potential a lot (if he reaches it he'll be better than Dwight) but I'd hardly say his stock has gone up. Lots of people still question his knees and attitude. Dwight is a proven monster, his public image has taken a hit but people still know what he can contribute to ANY team.

It's easy enough to say who the Lakers should and shouldn't send out but the players you're saying they should send out are ones other teams don't want. It also ignores the fact the numbers gotta match up. The Lakers HAVE to ship out some sizeable (but short) contracts if they want the deal to work.

Report: Howard Willing to Extend with Lakers | HOOPSWORLD | Basketball News & NBA Rumors

According to Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM, Dwight Howard has had a change of heart and is now willing to commit long-term to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Howard saga has carried on for months, through last season’s trade-deadline to an extended and ultimately failed effort to get him to the Brooklyn Nets earlier in July.

As options have dwindled, Dwight is now “excited” at the prospect of playing for the Lakers, according to Rudolph’s sources.

Jarrod has apparent close ties to Howard and was the first to break that Howard was not opting out of his contract last season.

Just as the Magic tried to accommodate Dwight in his quest to join the Nets, it’s still up to the Magic to make a deal.

HOOPSWORLD was first to detail three-way talks between the Houston Rockets, Magic and Lakers and then first to report, via Alex Kennedy, of talks between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Magic and Lakers.

Both are viable paths for the Magic should they finally consent to pull the trigger. Orlando has had qualms about taking back center Andrew Bynum as they embark upon the rebuilding process. Andrew is going into the final year of his deal and if he doesn’t want to extend his contract, the Magic are no better off than they would be if they kept Howard.

The Rockets recently acquired point guard Jeremy Lin and are nearing an offer sheet with Chicago big-man Omer Asik. If they get Asik, Houston’s flexibility is diminished but they still have enough young players and picks to help facilitate a deal.

Houston would prefer Howard but if he’s making it clear that if he doesn’t go to Los Angeles, he’ll walk in free agency to Atlanta or Dallas, Bynum may be a more reasonable choice (if he’s open to a long-term commitment with the Rockets).

Equally, Bynum has been linked to the Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving. He may be willing to stay long term in Cleveland and the Cavaliers have cap room and picks to help broker a three-way deal.

How this resolves still isn’t clear. The Magic are the decision-makers. Bynum, if he becomes the centerpiece of a three-way deal, can manipulate the situation to his end.

Ultimately it would be nice for all parties involved to have some kind of resolution – any kind – for a story that has dragged on for most of 2012.

Bynums stock has gone up...proof is in him being a starter on the all star team. Sure he has some health and attitude issues...thats the main reason we want to get rid of him...Howard has the same concerns to a lesser extent. As for us throwing in sizeable contracts... Not really...not if we gonna sign and trade bynum for that 105 million he wants. Maybe one. But not both Ebanks and Hill. I don't think thats a good move and I doubt the Lakers would either. Maybe one or the other but certainly not both. These teams have already stated they want Mcroberts expiring contract to be part of the deal. Stevie B to sweeten it has also been discussed. I've heard nothing about either of these teams wanting Ebanks Or Jordan Hill and any sizeable contract they may come with...thats the exact opposite of what these teams want...Houston just got rid of Hill...Orlando want guys still on their rookie contract...and/or guys who will be off the books in 1-2 years. Not overpriced players who are on 3-4 year contracts...is you crazy!?
