Let's look at other goalies in other sports.

Football - only gloves for protection. Bravest men in the world.

Handball - No protection, only shorts

Lacrosse - Only a helmet, throat guard, and chest pad. Balls being thrown at violent speeds. Similar to hockey.

Floorball - A mask

Water Polo - Flotation device if needed.
Is this even a discussion? Hockey is the most bytchmade sport in the world. Fact.

Penalty kicks are taken from a distance of 12 yards away from the goal. The strongest shooters can kick at speeds of up to 80 mph. This means that the ball reaches the goal line in 500 milliseconds. A goalkeeper takes 600 milliseconds to move from the center of the 24-foot-wide goal to one of the posts.

Football keepers: More athletic, smarter, quicker, braver, better looking. It's not a contest. And the ball really isn't that soft. In the lower leagues they make it a point to make the ball as hard as a rock, it weeds the pussies out with the feather feet and the soft facial features.

But let's not keep arguing about this. How do you explain lacrosse goalies then?
