nah breh

her album was out for a year, just dance/poker face and them already tore up the charts

nah breh
you're right about her album coming out in 2008 (August 2008), but her single didn't really reach the top of the charts til January 2009, around the same time Wale released that "Chillin" single.
Which was probably recorded sometime in late 2008, early 2009.
So I stand by my comment saying she was pretty much nobody (as in being the superstar she is now) back then.

Edit: That Wale track came out in June 2009.

the wale track was released in June 2009, Gaga didn't blow till after poker face, and that was released september

nikkas on here rewriting history.

Poker Face was released in September 2008 :heh:

Her album sold over a million, she had 2 #1 songs already and her 3rd single was in the top 10 when wale dropped the song. I think that classifies as blowing up

this like one of the few times an artist has given up a chance to be more popular for the sake of his album's vision and integrity

EDIT: both artists have given up a chance to be more popular, dont know how much bigger gaga can be though

Got to give Lamar's team props for not wanting some pop trash on a hip,hop classic

:salute: top dawg entertainment

I think it's far more interesting that the label even allowed Kendrick to turn down an opportunity to work with the biggest star in music these days. You had the build up, you had the hype, the speculation, pictures of them photographed together and everything, and in the end he doesn't even use her. Maybe when he said that he has full control of his album he was actually telling the truth:leon:

true, true^^

gotta respect Kendrick & his camp too for not takin the 'easy' route with the Gaga collaboration if the song didn't fit the album :salute:

Isn't it the opposite way around though? Gaga's quote is saying she didn't like the direction Kendrick's people were taking the song so she didn't want it used for the album.

yeah, but it also came off like they let gaga do whatever when they collaborated and management thought the song didn't fit with the album and vision of who they thought kendrick was so they tried to change it. gaga aint like that so she said no.

like i said (and its why i edited my post) i think both artists kept their artistic integrity in exchange for a chance to be more popular with another artist's demographic

But why does she sound condescending in that quote. :rudy:

because she's a bytch, this hoe said that Adele would be played out because she's using being fat as a gimmick to sell records

Adele got the number 1 song on iTunes all over the world from the James Bond movie soundtrack :damn:

and the track is dope
