Over the past number of years Something has been really bothering me about WWE. Everyone Know WWE's Creative Process has not been good, but what about the lack of characters ? There has not been a whole lot of interesting characters in WWE over the past 6 or 7 years now. Everyone can't just be a Great Wrestler or "I've Wrestled all over the world" or I'm just lucky to be here". For Example, Ricochet, He is awesome in the ring, but he doesn't have a character. Same thing with Chad Gable, Good in the ring, barely has a character. Speaking of Alpha Academy, They zapped all the personality away from Otis, all he is now is a Genetic Big Man. He even does the Generic big man Vader Bomb now. There's lots of more examples but that could take all day. Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this. Not really looking to start a argument, just wanted to start a conversation.
I think they have more than enough 'wrestling guys' who just love to wrestle and do cool moves for the workrate addicts, but that's not the shyt that's gonna sell merch and tickets, and never has been. The characters are the ones who sell the matches and get the crowds invested. Especially in WWE... their two biggest eras ever were built on the characters more than the in-ring.
DDT doesn't have these problems, yet WWE was biting the fukk out of that promotion during the worst of Covid without giving Takagi his ramen
Still trying to figure out what characters are being developed in NXT. At this point, NXT is just high hopes for indy wrestlers that needs a pat on the shoulder because that's ALL they are getting besides Pappy H words of encouragement.
