Before the season started he said his goal was to average 6 assists per game
Honestly, oart of me is a bit mad at Spoelstra that he's not playing James Johnson even with Bustise sidelined for so long. JJ presents a different problem for opponents in terms of another big that can create his own shot and get to the rim and make you respect him from the 3pt line.
As for Dion my favorite part of his game is his ability to penetrate and create which I feel the team needs at times. Too often we get a lead and fall in love with the 3pt line. We need someone who can penetrate defenses and get to the line or dish back out. That's what Dion would do. But at the same time I dont feel sorry for a mofo who cant help but run his mouth on social media. Especially when you remember the Heat are an organization that are secretive as fukk and try to keep everything in-house.
To me we should try and integrate both back into the rotation but i'll leave it up to Spoelstra in Dion's case. Last thing we want is for him to play and get hurt and we're on the hook for the salary and cant even trade him when his contract is on the brink of expiring. We'll see. I just want us to ease up the heavy minutes off Jimmy for a bit
6 is a bit of a aggressive goal for a PF but it's possible. My goal for Bam this year was an average of 10 pts 8 rebs and so far he's exceeding that. (see post from August https://www.thecoli.com/posts/34536010/ https://www.thecoli.com/posts/34260020/ )
Mind you those expectations were set thinking we'd come in with Winslow/Waiters backcourt along with Jimmy and Bam in the front court and James Johnson playing heavy minutes. i also expected Waiters and Butler to take the bulk of the shots.
Now that we see what he can to with the ball in hand i'll wait til next year for his next leap which would be extending his range and being more consistent at taking the 10-18 ft jumper. That should put him at about 17-20 ppg
Either way this goes i fully expect Riley to make a move next summer. He can smell blood in terms of being close to having a legit dominant contender. Like i said before let Kendrick Nunn play his way into other GMs hearts and watch Riley take someone's soul in a trade build around Nunn.
Who knows the Knicks just might give us a 1st round pick for him
