A $500,000 home is what middle class people can afford in Cali, and if I'm being real, it's considered lower middle class standard. In much of the country people who can afford a $500k home are not considered middle class anything...
The houses you guys call nice, in the middle of East Oakland or South Central, literally look petty compared to houses in actual "nice" areas like the Oakland Hills or Beverly Hills. The frame of reference is narrow...
Those houses look that way for a variety of factors but the actual living conditions are the same as hoods across America that "look" worse. The guy who say he been in Cali hoods but calls them nice just outed himself as a poser, cause if you been in them hoods, the lived experience is relatable to anywhere else---->low income, roaches and rats, trash and graffiti, gangs and junkies, boarded homes and storefronts...
And guys gotta remember to keep Google Maps and Zillow in the proper context. Those things aren't gonna capture the atmosphere and personality of an area...
