:pachaha:

Coli all about them dualities...fukkery and knowledge in one place :banderas:

Appreciate it breh :salute::myman:

:blessed:

Breh read the article.

They had a place for unwed pregnant women out in Mitchell, South Dakota called the Booth Home.

They would get their prenatal care, give birth, and put their children up for adoption right there.

Adoption agency would find families willing to take in the kids while the women were still pregnant...so the baby would go straight from being born to the people adopting the child.

That's what Kyrie's grandmother did. Got pregnant by a breh who ran off and gave the child (Kyrie's mom) up for adoption.

Kyrie's mom never met her birth mother.

Remember they didn't legalize abortion until '73. No WIC till '74-'75.

State enforcement of child support if the mother had the child out of wedlock didn't exist until ~'75.

Nikkas gotta realize how much the culture and the legal system around this shyt changed since the 60s. There were spots in every town and city in America just like this Booth Home.
Breh this was 1967. Native population wasn't dwindling then. It was the exact reverse.

No abortion, limited (or no) access to birth control, extreme poverty...that's the global recipe for astronomical birth rates.
Not to mention the social stigma associated with having children out of wedlock back then...often the woman's best option was to put the child up for adoption and keep it moving. :francis:

Even cacs were shippin off their own back then :francis:

My mother 'got in trouble' in 1960s Minnesota

Like I said, shyt was just different :manny:
THANK YOU for setting it straight.

actually that was an extremely common thing with natives.
Native Americans Confront the Legacy of Adoption
US government heavily promoted this to hurt those populations and their sense of native identity. and reservations were extremely poor so people did it all the time breh.
I got native friends from Canada who talk about this too, I think it was even worse there. Still heavy on them. :mjcry:

Yup - it's a BIG deal there still today. I stayed in Vancouver for a couple months back in the day and got to hear a lot about it.

Canadian Indian residential school system - Wikipedia

Same in Australia...even made a movie about it

Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002) - IMDb
Uh huh, I seen that and heard about the system. Theirs was the most recent too I think, really depressing.
