That ain't how cap holds work. If Lebron leaves the Cavs will still be far over the cap and have no money to spend. So it would literally be the exact same team minus Lebron.
LeBron James is like $30M, Iman Shumpert could decline his player option, Frye, RJ could retire, Green, and Calderon are also FA. I'd have to do the math. But if Kyrie is as good as he is if LeBron leaves he'd have another All-Star caliber player next to him, the keys to the team, and a super max. So how is that high and dry?

Miami wasn't left high and dry by LeBron leaving, Bosh had blood clots in his lungs which destroyed the team, and Riley ain't wanna pay Wade.

The Truth
No shyt Sherlock but Shaq was clearly the best player on that lakers team as Lebron is on this cavs team. Kobe always wanted to be a focal point instead of just sitting back and riding the rest of shaqs prime. That's the point. Kyrie wants to be his own man and it makes sense to do it now before another Lebron PR stunt comes cause it is coming.
Shaq was the best player but didn't do shyt before and BARELY did shyt after Kobe (And thats only because he deferred to Wade, something he refused to do with Kobe)

Comprende nikka:mjlol:

Shaq was coming in out of shape, lazy, and acting like a queen especially near the end of their run together. If Shaq was "clearly" the best fukking player then why did the organization choose Kobe OVER Shaq (smart move) and obliged Shaqs trade request after he got but hurt about it??

think nikka....

Kyrie does want to be his own man he's also smart enough to see bullshyt unfolding in front of his eyes which is why he's asking for a trade.

this is fascinating for a few reasons.

1. Is Kyrie wanting out because the writing is on the wall about LeBron leaving? IMO the bigger question is would LeBron be that obtuse to think his legacy would be unblemished by leaving Cleveland again?

2. Lets say Kyrie is leaving for purely "selfish" reasons (wanting to be the man, the focal point of the organization)....I honestly cant blame him. Looking at other guys that he may be of equal talent with (Wall, Harden, IT3,), Kyrie is indeed on the outside looking in as far as being of their stature. While he's still quite young (25) he isn't getting any younger either. His early career woes on the Cavs really cant be blamed on him as he was never THAT type of player to lead them out of the pit they were in. Only a handfull of NBA players in history have been THAT good.

3. I love LeBron, he's better than Kobe, top 5 of all time...but the chickens are really coming home to roost. Objectively speaking, this Cavs was constructed well and to WIN NOW. But the problem with winning now is you have to exchange youth for vets and if you DONT win now, you're stuck with a stagnant team.

Not to mention we've talked ad nauseam about Lebrons play style. Great for assists, points and rebounds for Bron but revolves around him too much. To a fault.

Kyrie got his shots true, but its possible that he's asking for MORE in terms of control of the offense. He may be savvy enough to realize that ball movement is becoming more and more a treasured asset in the NBA. And you're not prying the ball out of Lebron hands unless they're cold and dead.

So you're stuck with a aging team that has to leverage its future, with a mercurial superstar, to get better.

A team with not enough ball movement or versatile players to contend with the current Golden State team.

A team with no competent coach or GM for that matter to get all of this straightened out.

Thats where the Cavs are at now and this is Lebrons fault.

I don't want to penalize Lebron and the Cavs for not being perfect in their decision making.

But in an increasingly unselfish NBA, one that is now asking more of its front offices, coaches and players collectively....the disconnect is painfully glaring.

If the Cavs had a "all in for the team" mentality like the Warriors or Spurs, I don't think kyrie wants to leave. But when you're stuck on a ship headed for a iceberg with a captain who WILL NOT change course yet is known to abandon ship....why stay on that ship?

Whatever. Kyrie can't win games NOW when LeBron is out. And again. THE CAVS HAVE BEEN TO 3 STRAIGHT FINALS AND WON A CHIP!!!! nikkas keep yapping like they or LeBron did something wrong when they've been absurdly successful. If KD wasn't a Beta they may have 2 chips and would at the least be a legit contender next year.

Kyrie knows Lebron is going to leave the team in shambles with that trash roster (like he did Cleveland and Miami), and all the writers will call Kyrie a loser and selfish when they pile up losses. You already have these geeks bringing up plus/minus with lebron off the floor, like the entire team isn't built to watch him play.

Good for him asking for a trade, I don't blame him
:russ: at people getting mad at Kyrie, knowing damn well Kyrie was gonna get a call from his boy one day next summer telling him he saw on Twitter Bron decided to go to L.A. and he'd be stuck in Cleveland with those shytty contracts

He should've spoke up sooner, not wait until after the draft and after teams spent all their money.

No the contracts of Kyrie, Kevin Love, Tristan, JR, Smith and Kyle Korver alone would have them at or above the salary cap. Cap holds are only to ensure that for a team under the salary cap they don't hold off on signing a player with Bird rights while using the cap. If a player leaves you don't get to fit in another player into that money. It's the reason OKC couldn't sign anybody worthwhile to replace Durant.
