as for anyone talking bout "this has already been discussed", well there is a link in the OP to a fresh new Kotaku article. If you are mad this has already been discussed, maybe you should send Kotaku and email and let them know you have already addressed this and they can stop reporting about it.

Let's stop bagging on coutdog for a second and discuss the issue at hand.

Everyone get's up in arms about used games, and not being able to play them, but I think it might be a great thing.

If publishers can 100% control the cost of their games, that means that in a closed system, prices will begin to reflect that actual value of the game.

Angry Birds trilogy (free on iphones) released for consoles with a price point of 50$! Thats a game I wouldnt spend more than 10$ for. Eventually, the publisher would realize, "no ones paying 50$ for angry birds, we better drop the price if we want to move units." 6 sales at 10$ > 1 sale at 50$. (obviously.)

Now, compare that to your local record shop, game stop, what have you. Where ever it is that you are buying your used games. Because that shop, and that shop alone, is controlling the used game prices, they are going to try to keep them close in price to the new game prices, so as to not eliminate their new game sales.

This could actually serve to break up the homogeneity of the gaming world.

And at the end of the day, if sony blocks used games, MS will too. If one allows it, the other will too. So it's not a console v. console thing.

Let's start discussing how it affects us as gamers.

I don't know why you have this obsession with NeoGAF. This isn't anywhere near becoming NeoGAF. If this was GAF, you would register and not have posting privileges for months and even then probably not have thread-creating privileges for at least a year, and even if you somehow made it to that point without being banned, 95% of the threads you make would have gotten your thread closed and you banned onsite. And forget creating an alias because you'd have to go through the same wait for posting and thread-creating privileges. So nah, this aint like GAF.

As far as I can recall this is the first time I've ever done anything to one of your posts or threads. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you'd be able to provide links if that's the case too). And changing one word in a thread title is not something you should be offended by. It's not that serious.

As for why I modified your title... Let's start with two hypotheticals:

- If someone creates a thread that says Terrence Howard has been shot and it's not true? What would I do? I would probably delete or at least close the thread. That's blatant spread of misinformation and I think it qualifies as something that should be removed.

- If someone creates a thread that says PS4 price has been announced at $700, I'd do the same as above for the same reasons.

Those are different from what you did (hence I didn't delete or close your thread). In fact what you did may have been completely unintentional. What you did was say Kotaku said something that they didn't. Nowhere in their article do they say "PS4 will restrict used games". They said that Sony is being very fuzzy about it and they are which is why this warrants discussion. You are allowed to read between the lines but you aren't allowed to posit your inference as fact. I don't think that's unreasonable.

This relates strictly to "news" threads in my opinion. In the coli and in the arc we make plenty of "opinion" threads that are looser in a sense because they pertain to discussion around an opinion. News threads should convey news at least relatively accurately. For example:

Just cuz I haven't been banned for a year or less doesn't mean this place isn't turning into neogaf. Maybe I'm missing something here, but this place is Sohh.com Jr.
Its believed that this place is a place where all people can join the people of color as we talk about shyt from our colorful perspectives.
Neogaf is a gaming website, thats why they strict. The-Coli is a hip-hop-negro-centric website. Using your logic, epic threads like "Mario is dead: Miyamoto dead at age 69" would be closed on site.
