I'm an 80's baby who grew up off of when they strayed away from that 70's funk style so whenever Kool And The Gang videos came on I always assumed JT Taylor was Kool and the band was the gang. Blew my mind years later when I found out in the 90's that Kool was actually the bass player in the background.

Yep when I was little I always thought JT was Kool too.....what made them switch up their style in the 80s...did they just wanna stick around a lil longer

They are still touring.
If you are talking recently, Kool’s wife passed earlier in the year.

I saw them a couple years ago with bootsy Collins and The Time and there was some other cat singing instead of JT

I thought JT was Kool too. As little kid you just automatically think the main singer is the lead name. Same with Van Halen.

JT is not back. Seen them a few years ago in Syracuse and they had not 1 but 2 cats singing lead.
