I agree but Kool G didn't have much of an impact in the 90s, outside of 4,5,6. I like Root Of Evil but the production is rather ehhh. I say it in every G Rap thread but I'll say it again: it's a shame he never got the production he deserved in the 90s. Premo, Pete Rock, Large Pro...dude should have had more than one classic during that decade

agreed with the production aspect. but even in the late 90s and early 00 he had dope releases with, Roots of Evil and The Giancana Story

I actually never heard Giancana Story outside of the singles. Gonna have to cop that

There are many great rap patterns and styles but I'm not sure any are better than the G Rap, Big L, Rakim, Nas, etc style of multi-syllable spitting. shyt is perfect for storytelling. Interestingly if you listen to folk you'll recognize it in a lot of Bob Dylan stuff

The funny thing about these threads is... If every rapper is so much better than Jay-Z, what are you proving by claiming that they are?

Exaaaaactly... :obama:

Jay's supposed to be this insecure, not that great rapper who just happens to have been lucky for 15 years... but dudes building and pleading cases for why this nikka and that nikka is better. I don't get it either...

And G Rap was dope, incredible in fact... but nah. He's probably one of the most slept-on of all time, and doesn't always get the credit he deserves... but he also eventually got to a point where every song he made was pretty much the same flow and same subject, 9 times out of 10. If you just love to hear a nikka rap about killing people nonstop, G Rap's your man but otherwise... I think he was much better when he was more versatile than that.

What many dont realize is threads like this unintentionally show more and more that Jay may be the GOAT. Nobody else is referred to in this way anywhere near as much. Its kinda like Jordan...first it was "oh, Kobe is better than MJ"...then it was "oh LeBron is better than MJ"...
