I never saw Lashley as the next inline for Lesnar? Just cause the internet worked themselves into a shoot doesn’t make it true. Bobby Lashley was never as over as kofi is now, why would anyone think he had next?

You didnt watch Lashley in 07...he was getting Bobby chants and he was pushed hard at WM 23. Definitely was protected in the loss to Cena.

In a change of plans that took place on Monday, it looks like Kofi Kingston is the front-runner to be announced as WWE Champion Daniel Bryan's opponent for Fastlane at tonight's SmackDown in New Orleans, Louisiana.

As of Monday morning, WWE already had plans in place for both Fastlane, which takes place on March 10 in Cleveland, and WrestleMania four weeks later, which did not involve Kingston.

However, based on the fan response to Kingston's performance in the gauntlet on Tuesday, and even more the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, where he was a stand-in for the injured Mustafa Ali, the decision was changed to go to Bryan vs. Kingston.

It is not clear how or if this change of plans will affect the original WWE title plans for WrestleMania. Bryan was scheduled to face someone making a return as opposed to one of the current SmackDown brand regulars at the year's biggest show.

Dave Meltzer said that in spite of his performance on a recent episode of Smackdown and at Elimination Chamber, WWE is not considering Kofi Kingston for a WWE title shot against Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. Instead, they are looking at a possible returning superstar like Batista, John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Kurt Angle or Undertaker for the event.

He said: “Kofi Kingston was not the plan as of this morning for either Fastlane or WrestleMania, and obviously things can change. So the WrestleMania story that I’ve heard was that it would be someone who is being brought back as opposed to somebody he’s been facing. The people on the list for discussion that could be brought back Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, Undertaker, John Cena, Batista — Kurt Angle has been in discussion for WrestleMania, I don’t think it’s going to be Kurt Angle though. There could be others but those are the names that I’m aware of that are available for discussion.”

Zayn is said to be ready to return to the ring. Batista, meanwhile, had no deal with WWE as of a week ago. As for Cena, WWE reportedly has other plans for him at the event so he’s not likely. The Undertaker is said to be a surprising name (according to Wrestling Inc) because he’s recently taken appearances and bookings outside of WWE, including Starrcast II. However, talks for a Wrestlemania match started again this past weekend.

Daniel Bryan’s challenger for Fastlane will be revealed tonight.

Shelton will NEVER get that belt. I'll say that I'd rather have Kofi get it over Shelton. Kofi is entertaining and I believe that he would make a good championship. They need to give Kofi has Wrestlemania moment.

Shoulda just done Kofi/Ali at Fastlane for #1 spot at WM since Ali can claim that was still his shot and he would have won the Chamber. Atleast there is a built story there. No reason for Bryan to be wrestling at RR/EC/Fastlane and WM.

With that said I full expect Cena to return tonight and say he wants #17, and gets the shot.
