Been doing some early spring cleaning and came across my program from the 96-97 season. I forgot, and wasn't expecting, the first half of the book to be exclusively for the Lakers. Reason being is because the NBA had one specific program sold at every team's game; think it was called Hoop. Damon Stodamire (sp?) is on the cover. Anyways, going through it and there's one article about young Kobe. Haven't read it yet, but it's about his potential rise and goals in the NBA. :mjcry:

Damn I miss the brother....I got to witness 18 yr old phenomenon that blossomed into NBA legend. Never read about it in history books saw it with my own eyes. My "Muhammad Ali" of this generation almost try to overcome every hurdle (playing with a cast on his shooting hand during a season) . If you hated him, he always reminded others what you respected him for.... Jan. 26th lost a great one.
That seems a bit much

Gil Arenas podcast episode where he talks about Kobe and speaks on Mamba Mentality gave me chills. Kobe is the most profound and intersting athlete of all time.

Kobe was like a real life Batman. A superhero without superpowers who did it through sheer will and determination. Quentin Richardson called him "The Black Bruce Wayne" on the Knuckleheads podcast and I couldn't agree more. He was both inspirational and interesting. We'll never see anyone quite like him ever again.
