They really do. It was heartbreaking how they and his sisters were only acknowledged by Shaq. I hope y’all remember that when you’re running up behind these “others”. I don’t care what his parents May or may not have done. If they were present in his life and raised him with love, they should have been acknowledged and condolences offered. The entire family is grieving and as a parent to lose your kid and grandkid and a woman that came after the fact make sure your name was not even mentioned??? That’s disrespect in the highest form. I feel so sorry for Vanessa but she showed that she is exactly who we always thought she was. Sad all around. Shaq’s Mom don’t play. She probably would have been all in his ass if he got up there to speak and didn’t acknowledge Kobe’s parents and sisters. Shows you who was raised right.

Were Kobe and his parents/birth family still estranged before he passed ?
Does it matter? And no they weren’t. He had a good relationship with his sisters and their kids. And he was on the mend with his parents especially his Dad. There was nothing personal about Kobe’s life before Vanessa. That’s something only blood can bring and it was all
Cut out.

For real. And I actually agreed with a lot of his points, thought they were solid, then he fukks it all up by disrespecting Kobe's widow :leostare:
I wasn’t disrespecting her but just pointing out that this is who I’ve always heard that she was. I actually have focused on her grieving the most. But as a parent it’s hard to over look his blood family being disrespected when they weren’t on bad terms. Somethings I was raised you just don’t do.

I missed Vanessa's speech during the live broadcast. Watched her speech on YouTube and I was bawling, I don't know how she did it or where she got the strength. Hearing her speak about so much she'll never get to see Gianna do reminded me of all the things my niece never got to do. She died along with my sister and much the same as Vanessa said they couldn't have lived without one another, I don't think my sister and niece could've either. That really hit home with me and brought back a lot of emotions I didn't think were still in me.

May your sister and niece Rest In Peace

It was a beautiful service. As a fan, it gave me, I can't speak for anyone else, some closure. Still going to take a while, and probably won't fully get over this tragedy.

And I see the usual suspects coming into this thread with their nonsense, but I won't speak too much on that in this thread out of respect for Kobe, Gigi & the rest of us who are still grieving.

Anyways, I'm glad Kobe's family did this public memorial service so that his peers, fans & everyone else could have some sort of closure.

RIP KOBE. RIP GIGI. We love & miss you.

You keep saying it doesn't matter what they did. shyt is fukkin ridiculous. And what about a father who molests his children?....do they also deserve recognition at their funeral just because they're "blood"....fukk outta here with that dumb shyt. You ain't in that family. Stop trying to speak on their business like you know what really went down. shyt was obviously deeper than we’ll ever know. Talking about you're a parent. And what if your own parents disowned and neglected your children just because you didn't follow the life path they wanted?.....would you ever disown your own grandchildren?.....It's funny how you wanna talk all that "you don't do that to blood" shyt but then ignore all the shyt Kobe's parents did to disrespect their own blood when he was alive. And just cause they were on speaking terms doesn't mean they were on good terms.

It's hilarious that you can't see your own hypocrisy. And you coming in here disrespecting Kobe's WIFE is not honoring him. That's the exact same reason Kobe and his parents starting beefing in the first place. So it's safe to say Kobe wouldn't fukk with you either. Kobe's wife and children are the people he loved most in this world. And his parents wanted nothing to do with them. And now you expect that same family who they never acknowledged to now acknowledge them back?.....your whole logic and perspective is dumb as fukk. Kobe gave them plenty of opportunities to be apart of their life. But they chose their own pride over BLOOD. And now they have to live with that regret. I feel bad for them. I’m sure they’re torn up. But they put themselves in this situation. Let that be a lesson for the rest of us still here. Don’t ever let pride ruin your closest relationships.

I am sure you were also raised as someone who wasn’t going to skip his sons wedding, last game, and make money off his valuables.
