Bron is a smart niigga too; I doubt he even wanted to speak, being aware that there are so many more people that had an authentic connection to Kobe that could speak up there. That's like letting someone your loved on just became friends with on IG speak at their funeral.

So glad I watched it on the Lakers youtube channel - free from any outside commentary.

I don't know how anyone managed to speak (everyone was great) but I was especially moved and blown away by Vanessa's ability to get up there. That was every bit Kobe at the freethrow line on a ruptured achilles.

It was a great memorial - I was going back and forth or whether to watch it or not but I'm glad I did. It didn't rip open the wound like I thought it might have.

Basketball, fame & money aside, Kobe was a very intelligent man. Spoke multiple languages, lived in multiple cultures, sky high SAT score, hobbies, what not...So I'm not surprised that he married a strong woman, unlike lots of his peers that cuff birdbrain Build-A-Thots.

same here. i can't really describe it but the last 3-4 weeks have felt a little hazy, like part of me still wanted to believe it wasn't real.

today helped provide some sense of closure in that regard, although the whole thing still doesn't sit right and probably never will.

It's crazy how private they kept their relationship too. All I remember hearing for years was she's a video thot and people would ridicule Kobe for wifing her. This just shows you not to judge people. We don't know shyt about these people but wanna make asumptions about them because they're in the public eye.

I’ll admit even I made my own assumptions. And it was only because I saw her in the G’s Up video before I even knew she was with Kobe. My young ass thinkin “Damn, that lil Spanish bytch bad as fukk” and when I found out that was Kobe’s full blown wife I was hella confused thinking if I was in his shoes I would’ve at least saved marriage for later and did my thing with Hollywood starlets.

But it goes to show you should never impose your standards on someone else. Kobe absolutely did the right thing being with her and fighting to stay with her too. How she’s held it down has been remarkable.
