They had enough to win that series. They just needed Melo to dominate and really leave his imprint on the series.

His numbers look good but he could never put the team on his back and will them to victory like all the greats do

AI was one of the great playoff performers of all time. We’ve seen him come out a drop 50 multiple times. But when the Knicks needed Melo to do that he came up short…

KNICKS WERE FAVORITED
TO WIN THAT SERIES.

Let’s keep it REAL

Melo didn’t graduate high school in NY
He grew up in Baltimore

That “coming home” shyt was crazy. The nikka goes about shyt forceful so it’s always going to be a bit weird with him.

He was a great individual talent that didn’t strike a chord like that on any stop

What’s wrong with how it went?

Suns are a franchise that only has 2 Finals appearances in 57 years, so of course they would retire those numbers. My point is that there are levels to having your number retired by a team. Teams like the Suns/Wizards/Hornets/Pelicans, etc that are terrible franchises historically will gladly retire players numbers. Real franchises like the Lakers, Celtics, etc have much harder requirements to have your name in the rafters. I guess the Knicks are closer to those bum teams than I thought, if Melo gets his number retired.
Again, yall moving goalposts. Knicks have 2 championships in a 78 year history. We're not the Lakers, Celtics, hell or even the Spurs where we're standard of winning.

JR Smith shot 29% for the series.
Kidd did NOT score for the entire series.
Amare averaged 8 minutes in the series.
Tyson was a non-factor and got outplayed vastly by Roy Hibbert.

Who cares who Vegas favorited? Of course they wanted Knicks-Miami. Knicks were also the better RS team but that has nothing to do with matchups and the fact the Knicks were an old injured team by playoffs.

It’s not on Melo he balled out with a torn labrum in his shoulder. :stopitslime:

I basically agree with everything you said but it could've went alot different if he went to the Heat instead of Bosh.

That was the original plan

nikkax forget Bosh was a floor spacer, rebounder & deterrent. Melo could do two of those well enough but the interior defense would’ve been missing. Who knows how that plays into those Heat runs

"BALLED OUT"

HE SHOT 36%, 38% & 39%
IN THREE OF THOSE LOSSES.

YOU HAVE VERY LOW STANDARDS
WHICH IS WHY YOU
WANT GUYS WHO HAD
3 GOOD YEARS WITH TEAMS
TO GET THEIR NUMBERS RETIRED

He injured it during game six of the Celtics series because he was stinking it up before Raymond Felton had to bail him out. :hubie:
He only played well in two game vs the Pacers including the final game but this is the lasting image of Melo's Knicks playoffs

He had a torn labrum and Indiana was the #1 defense in the NBA (sub-100 dRtg, 42% opponent FG%).

The team was old and banged up he was carrying of course he shot poorly in games they loss.

U keep harping on playoff success that’s not the only benchmark for me.

He tore his shyt late in the regular season.
The left shoulder injury that bothered Carmelo Anthony throughout the playoffs turned out to be a partial tear of his labrum, according to a magnetic resonance imaging examination taken this week.

The Knicks’ medical staff is prescribing rest and rehabilitation for now and will reassess the shoulder in a few weeks. There is no expectation at this point that Anthony will need surgery.

Anthony first injured the shoulder on April 14, during a victory over the Indiana Pacers in the final week of the regular season. He aggravated the injury at least twice during the Knicks’ first-round playoff victory over the Boston Celtics and at one point referred to the shoulder popping out during a game. For most of the playoffs, Anthony wore a specially designed undergarment that protected the shoulder and helped hold it in place.

Anthony led the Knicks through two rounds of playoffs, 12 games total, averaging 28.8 points per game, but shot just 40 percent from the field. The Knicks fell to the Pacers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals last Saturday.

It was never clear how much the injury to his nonshooting shoulder might have affected him, and Anthony rarely complained about it during the playoffs.

“It was bothering me since it happened,” Anthony said Monday. “It came to a point where you just try not to think about it.”

His jacket still has the same amount of patches on it. :dead:

Yet the kids love this nikka. Nba vets love him too. nikkas actually be comparing Melo to Durant as scorers. Like are you kidding me? Melo aint never been on that level of efficiency.
