I remember Thibs was big on Toppin, and Leon Rose’s son is his agent. That wasn’t Perry.
proves how irrelevant the whole Scott Perry story is, really. he was never mentioned, likely had minimal influence, always Leon Rose and his relationships.

maybe Perry was more involved with 2nd round picks, looking at the fine print of transactions and G-League players, i guess. :manny:

Perry was more directly involved in bring Randle, drafting RJ and Robinson, and the number #1 thing he did was trade Marcus Morris for the pick that became Quickley. Once Leon came he still had power, but it was for his Rolodex. Rosas came through and you heard he was doing the negotiations (that didn’t work).

I tend to think he was removed because he was a known leak in the FO. A lot of the stories we heard that didn’t end in “and thank you Mr. Dolan”, probably came from Perry. Almost all the stories sounded like they were coming from his POV because they never shyt on him in the stories.

I actually think this team is even more of a black hole regarding the media with his gone and we won’t hear shyt about anything ever.

Perry was the guy that decided after we signed Randle that for some reason we needed like 3-4 extra power forwards to make the cypher complete

That Knox pick was brutal too

In 2019, the whole world knew the top 3 was gonna be Zion -> Ja -> RJ. You could've hired one of the bums that post up around Penn Station for a day to make that pick.

The Mitch and IQ picks were solid though I'll give him that

All in all, :manny:

I forgot you @'d us Knicks fans a while ago about this @FAH1223. I forgot to respond then but Perry was solid. He stuck around after the last regime with Steve Mills to help Leon Rose and company transition, and we made nothing but solid moves after that. Mills whiffed hard as hell on drafting Knox, but he found a lot of late round gems and Mills has been solid at drafting his whole career.

I wish I had more to say, but our FO is tight lipped as hell too so it's hard to know how much of what to attribute to who.
