Asked after Monday's practice if he knew what Eddie George's single-season record is, Elliott quickly recited it: "1,927."

George set the record during the 1995 season, the year Elliott was born. How did Elliott come up with the number so quickly?

"I've seen it a few times after last year, I came kinda close to it," Elliott said. "I just remembered it."

Close is right. Elliott finished with 1,878 rushing yards last season, the second-most ever for an Ohio State back. It should be noted that Elliott got to his total in 15 games. George set his record in 13 games.

But a record is a record.

Elliott has said multiple times that he left yards on the field last year because he couldn't use his left hand. Wonder if he left 50 yards out there? That's the difference between being George and the guy who's still chasing him.

That wrist is better now, Elliott will have the stiff-arm, his go-to move in high school, back at his disposal in 2015. Does that put George's record within Elliott's sights?

"I mean that would definitely be lovely, but we're focusing on these team-oriented goals," Elliott said. "Like I said, our goal is to get back to the Big Ten Championship."

Elliott will continue to dodge those kind of questions as long as he's still considered a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He laid that groundwork in the last three games of last season, and entered the offseason as the odds-on favorite for the trophy.

He'll have challengers, including whoever is lining up next to him in Ohio State's backfield. Las Vegas sportsbook Bovada currently has him tied atop its Heisman odds with TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin, but a season with 1,927 rushing yards could help set Elliott apart.

Just like it did for the guy who put up that number in 1995.

"We have a lot of Heisman-caliber players, and if all things go well for us as a team, maybe one of us will be lucky enough to be up there in New York at the end of the year," Elliott said.

Love the hype videos no doubt, just ready for the damn games though :why: . Where yall at with Corley? I don't think we will get him, i think we get Victors :obama:

Everybody wants to keep saying that Corley is a Sparty lock.. But if that was the case, why hasn't he committed yet? A lot of people say that it's because he and his family have fallen in love with Harbaugh and the rest of the new Michigan staff. To add to that, he and Lavert Hill want to play together, and word is that Michigan's gonna flip Hill from Penn State. His brother Delano is already playing for us.

I think they both end up blue and we get a hell of a receiving class.

Little by little, Harbaugh is gonna build a power just like Urban did for you guys. I cant wait till that happens. And Franklin's making moves for Penn State too.. Now if he could only coach...

I'm tired of mufukkaz laughing at the B1G.

Breh .. you wanna hear something funny? If we get Mitchell and Corley both .. I don't even think either of them will be the best receiver in our class .. meet Brad Hawkins from Camden, New Jersey. This kid can plat out play .. AND he's big. Check it out.

That would solve all of our playmaking problems at the wideout position. :blessed:

The B1G is on it's way back. :noah:
