i just dont get the "stan" stuff :wtb: but a QB switch just had lil to do with Zeke rushing success... i give most cred to the Slobs & Devin Smith.. 12 just handing him the ball.. yes 12 stretched the field but he was only throwing deep to Devin really. without that deep threat the safeties move up into the box more which takes away from Zeke yards:shaq:
I give the slobs credit because they got better each week. Cardale yes was throwing primarly deep to Devin, but again Devin played all year, he was going deep all year no matter who was behind center. Jalin stretched the middle of the field on the deep crosses. JT rushed more than Cardale which took away from Zeke as well.

That's another thing... JT is an injury liability at this point. Last two years he's started, he's gotten season ending injuries.

Frankly, this is an easy call

Some would say the threat of 'Dale to Devin pushed the safeties back, thereby opening more holes for Zeke. Either way, the offense was most explosive against 3 of the top 5 defenses we faced last year (the last three). Wasn't as explosive against Pedo St., although JT and the offense beasted against MSU.

The only liability would be because he would be called on to run more. That foot injury would have happened to anyone. He toughed out a knee sprain against Pedo St.

I think it's close and not that easy. JT will probably spread it around more, and be more accurate. Dale will get the deep passes and get the offense more explosive with big plays. Offense will probably score around 50 ppg either way.

JT running became a big part of his game last season. He didn't throw the ball enough down the field to assume he can excel without it.

exactly what i said but i give a lil more cred to Devin Smith because without him Dale didn't have a deep threat fr, yea Corey Smith & Jalin go deep but not like Devin did...

Without Devin JT didnt have a deep threat either. Devin was a big part of the offense all year not just when Cardale took over. It just got more attention because of Cardale being known for his arm. JT and Devin hooked up deep during the season lets not forget that

the difference is JT spreads the ball around more & 12 is more of a deep ball guy so he depended on Devin more. that's all I'm saying.. aye i love both guys:blessed: don't think 12 made such a big difference on the running game...

I think we'll fill the Devin void well. People kind of sleep of Parris Campbell. Haven't heard anything during camp but he's another burner. But Decin was uniquely good in how he tracked the ball in the air.

Yeah he is my sleeper breakout year pick. We got so much young talent on the outside man, Dixon is finally healthy too. Wonder whats up with the speedster James Clark. Hope he healthy and got his mind right

Got this from 11w. Perfect for this debate on JT and Cardale.

Overall stats for games started (12 games for JT, 3 games for Cardale):
Passing? Cardale passed for 251 ypg... JT - 246
Rushing? Cardale's games - team rushed for 292 yards avg. - JT's games - team rushed for 246 yards avg.
And, what about Zeke? Zeke Averaged 232 yards per game with Cardale at QB; Zeke averaged 98 yards per game with JT.
And, Cardale made his mark against 3 elite defenses... JT's stats were mostly against mediocre (at best) D's.

So, apples to apples, let's take JT's easier teams out of the equation. Let's look at tough games. i.e., JT and Cardale's 3 toughest games - (Va Tech, Penn State, and Mich State for JT), (Wisc., Bama, and Ore. for Cardale)...

Average team yards gained in each of their 3 big games:
w/Barrett - 198 Rushing - 197 Passing
w/Cardale - 292 Rushing - 251 Passing.
Average points in 3 big games with Barrett -31. Average points with Cardale - 47.
