Season needs to get here. This is a long summer (doesn't help I'm studying for the bar right now). Only have Cardinals baseball and they're running away from the competition right now. Olympics are next summer to hold us over next year.

This is about to be one of the greatest teams ever. I can't fukking wait. :wow:

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-...-cornerback-wayne-davis-commits-to-ohio-state

The country's 29th-ranked cornerback and a top-10 prospect in the state of Virginia, Davis picked the Buckeyes over Virginia Tech, Michigan and a host of others.

He held 20 offers and had been predicted by many to end up at Ohio State, but most figured that decision would come after a summer-time visit to Columbus.

The visit did not happened, but Davis pulled the trigger just hours before another cornerback, Texas' Jared Mayden, was to make his decision. He was last on campus at Ohio State last September when the Buckeyes hosted Cincinnati.

The Buckeyes have taken a multi-pronged approach with Davis, as he's been recruited by Zach Smith and Kerry Coombs, with each playing a vital role in the landing the four-star. Smith made headway at Lake Taylor two years ago, and Coombs handles the cornerbacks, so the pair made sense.

Through all the conjecture, rehabilitation, setbacks, questions and long-awaited announcements, Braxton Miller has finally cleared the air.

The two-time Big Ten Player of the Year sat down with head coach Urban Meyer as well as Tim May and Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch Thursday afternoon to reaffirm his allegiance to the Buckeyes. He also said he plans on competing for the starting quarterback job this fall.

"I’m from Ohio, this is my home state,” Miller told the Dispatch. “This is where I started and this is where I’m going to finish it."

He added: "God put me on this earth ... to be an athlete, and the first thing in mind is being a quarterback, and just be smart about what I do."

Miller added that "schools reached out, they reached out hard" about a possibility of him exercising the graduate transfer option set in place by the NCAA, but ultimately chose to stay home.

"I’ve seen from Braxton the same things I’ve seen since I’ve been here," Meyer told the Dispatch. "“He’s always loved Ohio State. That’s why when I heard this stuff going on (about possible transfer), I was like ‘Where is this stuff coming from?'"

Miller battled a multitude of injuries in his Buckeye career, but none more severe than the double labrum tear to his throwing shoulder. He first went down against Clemson in the 2014 Orange Bowl, but finished the game.

Barely eight months later he worked his way back with plans to be ready for the 2014 season, but Miller went down again in a non-contact drill during fall camp.

A second, subsequent surgery was needed and performed by Dr. James Andrews four days before Ohio State's season opener. Miller then watched replacements J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones carry the torch and lead the Buckeyes to a 14-1 season and the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship.

The last time Miller gave an interview before Thursday was the day he re-injured that throwing shoulder, leaving speculation of his plans for his final year of collegiate eligibility to swarm like a cloud over Ohio State's campus.

“I’M FROM OHIO, THIS IS MY HOME STATE. THIS IS WHERE I STARTED AND THIS IS WHERE I’M GOING TO FINISH IT.”– BRAXTON MILLER TO THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A day later, Ohio State released a statement confirming he'd miss the 2014 season, quoting the decorated quarterback as saying he planned to "return to lead the Buckeyes next season."

Still, mass amounts of takes resonated across the college football landscape regarding the star's intentions for this fall.

Miller put it all to rest Thursday, with fall camp less than a month away.

"I know who I am as a person. I know who I am as an athlete," he said. "As it stands right now, I know I am the best athlete in college football. If any competition wants to come my way, I’ve just got to be smart about things and just stay looking forward."

Just saw a clip of Cooper destroying a O lineman yesterday at the Opening. Auburn and TOSU are also tied for top choice of 5* DT Antwaun Jackson. We need a dt in this class, pair him with Cooper n Bosa on the D line, and in the words of the homie @Big Boss " its over"

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Reigning national champion Ohio State was well-represented at The Opening this week, as several future Buckeyes battled alongside and against America's top college football recruits.

The event included more than 160 high school standouts, some already committed to Ohio State and others among head coach Urban Meyer's top targets. Bleacher Report enjoyed a close-up look throughout the event at Nike's world headquarters, picking up some interesting notes on Ohio State's potential future playmakers.

Here's a look at takeaways that should pique the interest of Buckeyes fans.

Jonathan Cooper Could Earn a Fifth Star

Columbus native Jonathan Cooper committed to Ohio State last fall and remains the program's highest-ranked defensive pledge. The 6'3½", 230-pound pass-rusher is a key component of a class that currently rates third nationally in composite rankings.

The group features an FBS-best 14 4-star prospects, but it doesn't contain a composite 5-star recruit. That may change soon, following Cooper's impressive performance in Beaverton.

The Gahanna Lincoln High School product kept elite offensive linemen off balance and broke through with several highlight-reel efforts. He actually landed atop a top-10 list of plays in a video presented at the event's closing ceremonies.

Cooper seemed to be on a mission from the start and took several opponents to school, including 4-star Michigan State pledge Michael Onwenu on this rep:

Discussions in The Opening media room about players who warranted elevated star status continued to circle back to Cooper by the end of the week. Notre Dame commit Tommy Kraemer provided rave reviews.

"Cooper is the guy who stood out to me because he really makes you work for everything," Kraemer told Bleacher Report. "He'll take advantage of any mistake, and that combination of power and quickness isn't easy to deal with."

Blue-Chip Targets Eyeing Visits to Columbus

Expect this Buckeyes recruiting class to grow stronger in the coming months, as more top-tier talents jump on the bandwagon. Several sensational athletes revealed plans to spend time on campus as things progress toward national signing day.

Antwuan Jackson, a 4-star defensive tackle from Georgia, identified Auburn and Ohio State as co-leaders. He anticipates a trip to Columbus in the near future.

"I love both programs. I love both communities," he said, pointing to his strong relationship with Buckeyes defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

Lyndell Wilson, a 5-star Alabama linebacker, is viewed as a Crimson Tide lean, but Ohio State remains in the mix.

"I will take my officials to Oregon, USC and Ohio State. That’s the only three I know right now," Wilson said.

He is currently rated No. 1 overall among 2016 linebackers so any possibility is worth monitoring moving forward.

Lyndell Wilson plans to spend an official visit at Ohio State.

Florida wide receiver Binjimen Victor enjoyed a strong performance in Beaverton, displaying superb athleticism and mid-air adjustments. He is expected to attend Ohio State's Friday Night Lights event later this month, potentially joined by fellow uncommitted Opening competitors Damar Hamlin (cornerback) and Donnie Corley (wide receiver).

Top overall 2016 recruit Rashan Gary is the biggest fish in the pond at this point and previously visited Columbus this spring. The Buckeyes will work to welcome him yet again, and he's already a fan of assistant Larry Johnson.

"He got their defensive line play to increase a lot. The stats speak for itself. When he came in, he developed them, and you can tell on film," Gary said.

Ohio State Commits Propel Team to Seven-on-Seven Title

A star-studded seven-on-seven tournament ended with Team Lunar Beast capturing the championship trophy. It's a squad that featured multiple Buckeyes pledges.

Wide receiver Austin Mack, a 4-star talent who committed to Ohio State in June, came up huge throughout the tournament. His performance featured this phenomenal grab along the sideline:

Running back Demario McCall joined Mack in the offensive attack, along with 4-star tight end Jake Hausmann.

"It was great getting together with my future teammates and showing what we can do against the best in the country," McCall said. "I think we can do some big things together at Ohio State."

Mack shared that sentiment.

"We won a championship here, and I think we can do the same thing in college," he said. "It's been an amazing experience and gave us an opportunity to bond before we all head to Columbus."

Oh, I must've missed those other 2 vines ... :scheme:

All bullshyt aside, Cooper SHOULD be doing that to Onwenu. Coops a weak side defensive end, Onwanu's a guard. Either way .. we're building up both of our lines and it's gonna be a fukking 10 year war all over again .. starting THIS year. Remember that. Everyone is writing Michigan off this year. We HAVE talent. Brady just couldn't develop it. I'm positive this staff will.
