It was entertaining. Something was off/missing though. The pacing felt a little long and some of the violence was gratutious to the point of distraction. The whole church scene felt overblown and dragged on, IMO. Other than that though, I really enjoyed Sam Jackson's lisp and some of the cool new action shots.

3.5 out of 5 for me. :ld:

Like all of Vaughn's post-Stardust movies, I didn't care much for it. Like Kick-Ass it's pretty much every teenage boy's fantasy. It's a movie catering to the lowest common denominator and it sucks that a talented guy like Vaughn wastes his time on shyt like this. There's no real emotion here, only moments that should have some emotion to them but don't, the only hint that apparently it was their intention being the overly dramatic music cues.

The action scenes were pretty decent though and the cast did a good job so it's not all bad, but again, Vaughn needs to put his attention to making more interesting movies rather than ones where the princess of Sweden says she'll let the hero put it in her ass if he saves the world.

The movie was dope. I think the ONLY thing that stops it from being a classic is that there's too much over-the-top Kickass-esque violence. If they had toned it down just a tad, especially in the beginning, this would be up there. They could've had the same effect by making it look like 80s-90s actions.

And Samuel L and Colin Firth killed this jawn. I give it a 7.5

Loved it. Want to see it again. It had the fun of an old james bond flick with the violence of a movie like Layer Cake. Funny, good performances, good story, and Sam's Russell Simmons impersonation is hilarious.

Mark Strong was good as usual, as was Michael Caine and even the new kid. But Colin Firth was clearly the star of the show.
